Don't listen to the whiners!!
16 September 2022
This show has everything!!!! It looks stunning, it moves very well (boring? Really? That is plain objectively wrong), all the characters are relatable (ok, not the baddies) and hardly once did I think of the skin color or ethnicity of any of the characters. Morfydd Clark can occasionally come across as a tad less convincing as Galadriel then she should, but I put that down to weak directing (she is an escellent actress, and certainly look the part) and I am sure she will grow into the character, and the dialogue can occasionally be a tad "purple," but it somehow fits the story. Do NOT deny yourself a tremendous viewing expericnce just because a bunch of losers decided to hate on it from day one. This is close to a masterpiece, and I am only four episodes in..

Totally awesome!!!

This had me captivated from the very first second. I KNEW it wasn't real, but not for a second did I NOT buy into its pretended reality. This is nothing short of a masterclass in how to make a beliavable faux documentary, and it is a crime against humanity that this is not more well known than it is.

Magnificent!!!

The Best from Aardman so far?
7 December 2021
It is well nigh impossible to top the quality of feature-length titles like Curse of The Were-Rabbit or Pirates, just to mention a few, but The Flight Before Christmas, at 30 minutes only, comes very, very close.

Everything about this gem hits the mark: the story is touching, the pacing perfect (fast without feeling forced), the humor and characters without a single false note, the animation is amazing, and then.. the visual part, the look and feel of the christmassy, wintry world, interiors as well as exteriors, had me totally mesmerized. This looks so lovely and colorful, that I'd give anything to step into its magic landscape.

A classic? Yes, if there is any justice in the world, this IS a new christmas classic (also check out Robin Robin, another splendid Aardman gem on Netflix) and those who are untouched by this jewel in Aardman's crown are either dead or deaf n' blind.

By the way, there is a short Shaun title, from season 2, called We Wish Ewe(!) A Merry Christmas, that is just like this new only, a small miracle. Only shorter.

Best sci-fi show around
24 May 2021
Well, wouldn't you know it, this show gets lots of bad reviews here, and often for the simple reason "it doesn't make sense," but, hey, maybe that is the POINT? That we cannot understand an alien technology or alien viewpoints/morés etc? In which case this show is fantastic! As for the actors being bad... Where? When? They may not be on a Royal Shakespeare Company level, but nor are they required to be. Music too loud? Not to my ears, and I'm usually very sensitive to such stuff. Naw, what it boils down to is that it require too much thinking and openness on part of the viewers, and with the short attention span these days.. Well, what to expect?

I love every second of it.

What else to expect from the mastermind behind Annihilation?
7 January 2021
Metaphysical, deep, dense, tense, slow-burning, visually arresting, this limited series was way, way waaaaaaaaaay better than I expected. Virtually every aspect of it knocked me out, this is one show I really hope gets a ever-growing following, like Annihilation, over the coming years. As a writer/dirtector I now put Garland in the same league as Villeneuve and Nolan. Man, what a trip!

Where angels dare to tread
17 November 2020
This film REALLY need to be rediscovered by a huge crowd of people, as this is a gem, a truly moving, mesmerizing and deeply felt "horror" film, or rather, a bold analysis of what faith can mean, both in a negative and positive way. One thing in particular I liked, aside from its stunning look and immersive soundtrack, is that it doesn't take side, it is wide open to interpretation. That this masterpiece isn't more well known is a flamin' scandal.

What a letdown!
12 September 2018
After having me hooked throughout the entire season, this last ep of season 1 brought back memories of the huuuuge disappointment I felt when Lost crashlanded all those years ago (but that was even worse, of course, being the ending of the entire show). There was little drama here, not a lot made sense and nothing was answered, really. I had this sinking feeling in my stomach early on that, my God, is this another example of them making it up as they go along? I hope not, but this episode was really disappointing, a major let-down. Season two have a lot to live up to.
