Started well but fell off a cliff in the second section
This started great, really focusing on the issues in East Timor, but in the second section it begins to focus on the characters more. Between the first and second section the characters actions go from being relate-able to completely ridiculous.
Spoilers 3,2,1. The man character is depicted to be living a happy fulfilling life at the start, but towards the end with no build up the wife declares neither one of them have been happy for years. A similar thing happens with the female lead, all to create a love interest between the two.
Finally, there is possibly the most absurd suicide I have ever seen on TV.
The script in the second section resembles that of a high school group homework project. Someone writing one scene, than another on the next.
No one seems to check if it flows or even makes sense.
We watched this in senior geography, the class were invested in the first part, but were frequently laughing throughout the second.
I would recommend the first part very strongly, but I would do the opposite for the second.
