The Prophecy: Forsaken (2005 Video)
4/10
Belongs on SciFi, but Jason Scott Lee was great
18 September 2006
This film picks up exactly where "Prophecy: Uprising" left off. Given the fact that this film is only 1 hour 15 minutes, I'd be willing to place a bet that this was filmed originally with Uprising as one movie. Anyway, Kari Wuhrer now holds the Lexicon, a book that tells who the anti-Christ is and when the apocalypse will take place. Jason Scott Lee is the righteous cop sent by the seraph Stark (Tony "Candyman" Todd)to kill Wuhrer and retrieve the book. Naturally, he cannot do it and the two try to escape the wrath of Stark and his minions. Jon Light returns as Lucifer, who ironically aids the two heroes in their quest. I thought this film was better than "Uprising," but still not great. Casting Tony Todd was a great choice and I liked Lee's explanation of the celestial hierarchy, but I became ultimately confused with who's good and who's bad. Do you help Stark prevent Armageddon, which will result in humans remaining in wormy earth after they die yet save billions of lives? Do you help Lucifer bring about Armageddon, which will result in good people being reunited with God in Heaven yet end life on this planet as we know it? God seems to want it to happen as does Lucifer. I guess the majority rules. I don't know, you figure it out for yourselves.

As disaster films go, this one is a good voyage.
31 May 2006
In scanning some reviews, I've come to the conclusion that some have become jaded to the disaster film genre. You know it is a disaster film, so why go to see it if you know you are going to hate it? I loved the FX in the film; the acting is as one can expect from an ocean liner disaster, because the escape is the plot to the film. This isn't Hamlet. What makes this film better than the original is the length of time from the start of the film to the rouge wave crushing and turning over the cruise liner. No draw out character development! However, I did not have much compassion for the characters as in the original; Belle Rosen or Linda Rogo. But then again, who could replace Shelly Winters in that underwater swimming scene! I think if you want to see a corny film, or a Cruising ham of an actor, go see Mission Impossible III. Ughhh!

Great tourism thrill ride
20 March 2006
What was most surprising was... I was there, in Cesky Kromlov! Yeah, the story is supposed to end up in Slovakia, but was actually in the Czeck Rep. For one who has traveled through Europe, this movie crept me out. I'll be watching who buys me drink! But seriously, the only sick, sadistic person in this world has a ranch in Crawford Texas. What started as a crazy backpacking journey through Europe descends into the worst kind of sadistic depravity. Suckered into a slaughterhouse not found in any Frommer's book, the vacationers find themselves at the mercy of twisted clients who pay big money to hunt, torture and kill humans.
