Have Gun - Will Travel: Odds for Big Red (1961)
Intriguing array of talent here!
As the fellow reviewer outlined, in a series of amazing actors and actress appearances, this may be the most eclectic. Virginia Capers (from A Raisin in the Sun to Ferris Bueller's Day Off), and Richard Ney (he became a Wall Street expert and best-selling author, banned from the Johnny Carson Show) do excellent jobs, and are known for much beyond this work. But, Director Richard Donner is another level of twist - he of The Omen,. Superman. Lethal Weapon fame - and married to Laura Shuler Donner, of X Men, You've Got Mail, Free Willy, Mr. Mom, St. Elmo's Fire fame. Layers of genius in this episode. A great watch, in a great series!
Gunsmoke: Crooked Mile (1964)
Star-studded, well-acted and written episode
Gunsmoke was such an amazing vehicle for talent - this episode is one of the best in which, beyond the usual Gunsmoke core (Matt, Doc Festus, and Kitty), you had near-future major stars George Kennedy and Katherine Ross on screen with Birt Reynolds. Very entertaining episode on so many levels! a must-watch!
Gunsmoke: Prairie Wolfer (1964)
Vintage! Festus, Quint, Chester - and Matt, Doc and Kitty!
Great episode and a must-see for any Gunsmoke fan! And Festus clean-shaven and his folksy, friendly self, but a little tougher edge...great watch!
Gunsmoke: Chato (1970)
Tight script, great acting, believable tension and characters
One of the top 25 of Gunsmoke IMO. Always worth a watch!
