The Bad Guys (2022)
8/10
Went in with low expectations, left with it still low.
22 April 2022
I'm a fan of DreamWorks but the animation was done on the cheap - Mr. Wolf's fur did not 'swish' when his head moved, smoke was just simple images. I have no children and with my deafness I could not hear anyone else in the (nearly empty) theater. I didn't expect much going in and left a little disappointed.

It's a matter of perspective
7 June 2009
I'm sorry to say this is based on memory, since the movie is not available for rental (I wonder why!) I cannot evaluate it properly from my current attitude about movies and subjects as it's been years so I've changed.

BUT I do remember it so vividly as to be a bit spooky. There were a lot of movies I hated and couldn't stand to watch walking out of the theater or ejecting the tape/DVD, this one is NOT one of them! :-) I really enjoyed it as it was a wacky "out of this world" comedy with a simple premise: they aren't here to invade... they are just tourists making fun of us! It is not science fiction at all but a comedy featuring Martian tourists (think European tourists making fun of us! Or we of them!).

So you need to set your mind towards wacky illogical and very different comedy making fun of martian movies (not in the same vein as Mars Attacks!) with it's own low budget. Our American rituals are bizarre from a very alternate perspective that some countries may have of us so this is in that vein. We is a weird, are we not?! LOL

Having martians making fun of everyone on earth is more from the perspective of social comments and so of course the martians are annoying! That's the point! Think comedy sketches by various TV shows like Saturday Night going to the bid screen playing out a simple act on a fairly simple premise. Relax, enjoy, and throw popcorn at the martians! I loved the movie and hope to buy one soon! It's just delicious! But you do have to have the "brains" to understand it. Not many people do. I can't think of a parallel movie so I can't help you there. Not quite the Coneheads or similar movies but kind of a bit in that area.

The Outer Limits: The Inheritors: Part II (1964)
Season 2, Episode 11
OK, a bit sugary, but good, a goodness we need today...
14 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The pieces of the puzzle come together. A story written for Christmas, of hope, for the children.

As the lieutenant rounds up the children, who have no hope, no friends, no family, the G-man confronts them, but cannot stop them.

The four men (my mistake on the part 1 episode review was to say 5) put their project together. The Lieutenant brings the children. The G-man says "don't do it" to the 4 men as he is cynical that there is evil behind it.

But we find out that it is very wise, very good 'aliens' behind the project. They set out in the galaxy their genetic instructions to be embedded in the minds of the 4 men to build a rocket.

And in the rocket is a simulation of the environment from the planet the children are destined to go to. It helps those helpless, hopeless children to have a life they would not have here on this "heartless" earth. We see the crutches removed. The blind can see, the deaf can hear.

A noble and wonderful gift.

I haven't cried such tears of joy in a long time. For, I too, am disabled like the children, I have Deafness, a spinal injury, and more.

I live in hopelessness. Yet I have hope. Thank you, everyone who put this episode together.

The Outer Limits: The Inheritors: Part I (1964)
Season 2, Episode 10

One of the most touching episodes
14 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A government agent investigates 5 mysterious men who have the brain wave patterns of an alien embedded in their heads by a bullet shot at them in a war in Asia by snipers.

He chases them around the world investigating what they are doing: inventions. What is their purpose? What is the alien brain in their heads planning?

Only part 2 can answer that. And it is wonderful.

This is a heartfelt wonderful 2 parter that wants to be suspicious of the men but they are pure of heart as all those who encounter them say. They devise things that are definitely harmless.

I've watched this series since I was very little and it is very intelligent. So many wonderful concepts and this one has the highest of all: helping children (the spoiler).

The series and this episode is not cynical but educational. Sometimes the stranger is not out to do harm but to do good. There is good in mankind, we just have to search for it. It is so important in this day and age in the new century to not forget these and more facts of life as shown so well in the series.

We must strive to better ourselves and to help others. We have the capacity to do good and to better our world in many ways. And this episode is perhaps the best illustrative of that of the whole series.

Please enjoy.

Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999–2002)

Adult Appeal
21 September 2006
This series has adult appeal as the plots are sophisticated and intelligent and relaxing for the overworked adult and not very childish.

The stories are dark oriented but poke fun at all sorts of sources and subjects.

Generally the series ranks close to the Fox Network lineup of cartoon based shows but lacks nudity (I think!) and vulgarity so it has a universal "PG" rating like appeal. More like the Shrek movies.

There is good consistency amongst the writings and design that keeps it interesting and a long of tongue in cheek humor that adults would enjoy without any significant childish components typical in "children only" cartoons.

I'm sure everyone of every age would enjoy this series.
