Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
I cried like a 3 year-old child..but enjoyed every second of it
Wow, I just came back from watching this movie and let me tell you...I have never cried this hard over a movie that heavily revolves around CGI characters. Rocket's origin story will tug at your heartstrings and give you a newfound appreciation for him by explaining his isolated and angry personality. His animal friends, which are only just introduced in this movie, somehow got so much personality and kinship that you will find yourself completely attached to them (thus more emotions once the inevitable happens). Not only that, but each and every character from the group has their own heart wrenching moment that both builds a lot of character development that the past two volumes lacked, but also a sense of empathy for their situations and the amount of burden they have to deal with while simultaneously having to save the universe countless times. Even with the emotional moments, the film wraps up on a fantastic high note, giving each major character proper closure as well as appreciation for the entire trilogy as a whole. In my opinion, this is the best MCU movie since Endgame, and I would pay to see it in theatres again just to be able to experience it in the big screen once more. If you are a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, you will not be disappointed. However, expect to cry...a lot. Get some snacks and some tissues and definitely don't go see it with someone you're not comfortable crying in front of.
Umibe no Étranger (2020)
Exceeded my expectations
I had been eagerly waiting for this movie for a long time, and I finally got to watch it yesterday. By far, one of the best BL stories I've ever seen. It doesn't fetishize their relationship and shows genuine romance between the two characters, neither of them being bland in personality or too pushy like in a lot of BL stories. What really made it for me was the concept that it's not always easy being lgbt, and sometimes it is very difficult to accept and it's not always going to be sunshines and rainbows in terms of accepting that about yourself. The art style was also gorgeous, there wasn't a single scene that felt sloppy or lacking; some of the scenery left me in awe. I heavily recommend this movie, not only for the cute romance but also for a breath of fresh air if you're looking for a new type of story. I definitely plan to watch it again.
Yakusoku no Neverland: Episode #2.10 (2021)
Last few episodes saved the season
Episode 6 and beyond have definitely saved the season, especially this episode. The entirety was exciting and left me at the edge of my seat by the end of the episode, it had amazing plot twists, and had very emotional moments. I wasn't too sure about this season before, but after this episode and the other last few episodes, I can easily say that this is still my all time favourite anime. Cant wait for episode 11!
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
One of the best hero/villain movies I've ever seen
Along with the fact that this movie is amazingly inclusive and portrays women of different races and confirmed queer characters, the movie as a whole is very action packed with excellent acting skills and realistic special effects. The story itself is fun, intense, very well written, and leaves you interested throughout the entire film. I'd say this was a huge success on DC's part. Hoping for more films like this in the future; maybe even a sequel.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Brilliant!
Everything about this movie was absolutely amazing. The colours, the plot, the character development, etc; it all made it a thrill to watch! I highly recommend watching, even to non Spider-Man fans.
