Young David (2023)
For an animated short it's OK... but
So I love the story of David and, was really excited when I heard angel studios was making a David movie in the vein of The Prince of Egypt, one of my favorite animated films of all time, and they said they wanted to make an authentic, epic story on that scale, and had already crowd funded about $50m dollars. Which is a lot of money.
With a non-major studio you should be able to get a film looking about as good as a Disney movie with that much dough. (dreamworks as been making gorgeous looking animated films for around that price range, Disney just seems to have forgotten how to budget so everything costs them $200m+ )
And while this is just a short, it does look worse than the promo that was released and the story is incredibly childish.
I really hope the film is a mature movie that is family friendly enough that kids can enjoy. Not a watered down kids movie about David, but that is exactly what this short is.
I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt for now as this is just a 5minute short and the movie is still over a year away. But if this is the tone of the film I am not impressed.
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi: The Sith Lord (2022)
Yaddle Knew!
This episode has got to be one of the best short style star wars episodes I have ever seen, it takes place during the events of the Phantom Menace just prior and right after Qui-Gon's death and Focuses on Dooku, who we find out is still a part of the Jedi order at this time. As Well as a Yaddle who we have known very little about up until this point, it turns out she was several steps ahead of the rest of the Jedi with finding out about this sith, without spoiler too much let's just say that we know she doesn't make it to the events of Attack of the Clones, the story here is expertly told, the visuals are top notch, and the score and emotion of this episodes is breathtaking. Wonderful episode!
Dream Home Makeover (2020)
Great if you want to find someone to tell you to paint everything white!
If you want your house to look like a generic hotel Lobby then by all means hire these people, they will paint everything white and put in some plants and off-white and grey couches. If that's what you want then go for it!
The World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals (2021)
Give the hosts a break!
I have been under the weather the last couple of days and this was the "light" viewing I needed. It's a show about people finding some of the coolest vacation rentals out there. But these reviewers are savage. Yes they are rich and successful, get over it, yeah most people could probably never afford some of this places. But that's why it's called escapism. But the hosts really are friends you can tell that for sure. And some of these place are awesome and I could afford to go to on my next vaca if I wanted even on my little budget.
