Some Folks Will Not "Get It"
30 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have just finished watching this film and went on to read the reviews posted here. As one reviewer suggested I do intend to watch this a second time after I let the story sink in. What do I mean some folks won't "get it"? It is about depression, anxiety, and mental anguish. It is true that there are many folks who do not suffer from any mental illness and God bless them! However there are many of us who do, God bless us, who are fortunate to have the meds and therapy to live full lives. This film shows this in the father and we understand those thoughts. I've also been 11 and remember how idealistic the world seemed. I had a nice life and didn't want for anything! Depression hit me as an adult so I understood both characters. The film does move slowly but I feel that by doing so I was more drawn in. It had a Robert Altman type of directing style with the slowness that includes indistinct discussions in the background of everyone around us like in our real lives. Beautifully set in Istanbul, Turkey. I look forward to my second viewing. Since watching from home putting on the closed captioning helped greatly!

Showcase of Liberace's Talent!
10 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Predictable plot yet several instances where the lead helped out others in their misfortunes during his own misfortune. Liberace was a talented pianist and even that is a mild statement. He showcases his musical gift beautifully which impressed me since this was filmed in 1955. He plays flawlessly with incredible technique that continued throughout his career for the next 30 years. His acting is really well done especially when he can hear after his operation. Uncle Charley, William Demerest, plays his manager without the gruffness he portrays in My Three Sons 10 years later. Happy ending for all characters!

Stepford Wives Reimagined
2 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Similar plot as both versions of The Stepford Wives. This was a more sinister version like the first with Kathrine Ross. Florence Pugh is excellent as is Harry Styles. Harry plays the strong, dutiful husband well, and then when he plays the total opposite as a weak, incompetent husband was amazing! One reviewer stated there are plot holes. My question is why were there tremors to where all the wives knew to hold the glasses from toppling over? I would like to have seen what Frank's wife would do when she could "take over", and how Alice returned to herself. Olivia Wilde, Chris Pine and Emma Chan were good as well.

Another Toy Story Hit!!
25 June 2019
My son and I are huge fans since he was 6 when the first one came out! The Story's have matured along with him and we can enjoy them just as much as before! TS 4 was worth the wait! The butter stained napkins used as tissues during the incredible emotional, heart tugging moments were most useful! Just when you think "I got this" you really don't and the tears start to flow! Man, how do they get do that? Read the cast carefully so you won't miss Betty White and Carol Burnett! Oh, and I LOVED Duke Caboom's Canadian references through out. Makes my half Canadian citizenship proud! You'll love it! Oscar anyone??
