Smile (2022)
Might be one of the worst things I've seen
Smile (2022) by Oktober Layne has got to be one of the mediocre amiture pile of dog's doo doo! The film is not meant to be seen my normal people. It leaves a sour taste in your mouth after you've watched it due to the terrible editing, soundtrack and acting. I can't believe that people funded this film on a crowdfunding website. People actually pledged money into this! This looks so undermined for a film that had money put aside. If you have to watch this film, might as well get stoned while you're at it cause the hour you'll be spending feels like an eternity and you'll be begging for it back.
Hellthy (2019)
I tried to like it, I really did...
... but this film did not end well. In fact I lost my interest and started looking at my phone at around the half an hour mark. It didn't have a soundtrack when it should. I'm not sure whether it's meant to be dry humour cause I didn't. Acting was the only thing decent about it. The start was rather weak with poor acting, dodgy facial hair and obvious fat suits. Ignoring this, it did start to get interesting, even with trying to get beyond the cheap set of the torture room. Although not original, the idea was intersting enough. The big problem was that the film was so slow, being focused on one person for far too long. Number 14's story could have been told in a fraction of the time. On top of this, the shakey camera work was distracting, and there were no interesting shots. Plenty of dialogue allowed them to get creative, but it was all very static. There could have been dramatic close ups etc. Also, there was no treatment/colourising which left it all feeling amateurish.
The Black Shuck (2018)
Hellhound
"He takes the form of a huge black dog, and prowls along dark lanes and lonesome field footpaths, where, although his howling makes the hearer's blood run cold, his footfalls make no sound."
Josh Trett's Black Shuck film screams success in all the right places. Especially set in Norfolk - Norfolk talent here. The ghostly apparition then traveled 12 miles away to Blythburgh Church, the stories say, where it killed four people. Clearly, Cujo and the rest of the world's most fearsome canines have nothing on the mythical Black Shuck. This short does wonders and is entertaining from start to finish. This will age like fine wine. Definitely the best demon dog film I've ever seen.
