Bugs Bunny Builders: Catwalk (2023)

The Cat Came Back. "Catwalk" Marks the Return of Penelope Pussycat
11 December 2023
Looney Tunes fans are going to love this episode of Bugs Bunny Builders, "Catwalk", because it marks the return of a fan-favorite character, co-star of the Pepé Le Pew shorts, Penelope Pussycat.

In this episode, Bugs Bunny and the Looney Builders are hired by Penelope, a passionate and savvy fashion designer from France to build a fashion runway. After being sidelined and reduced to cameos, Penelope plays a vital role in the story.

In her first major role since "Carrotblanca", she encourages the Builders to make the build bigger and more fun. One can pick up a valuable lesson when support and inspiration can drive one's creativity.

"Catwalk" is one of Bugs Bunny Builders' best episodes as the episode first aired. There are some great scene-stealing moments from Penelope Pussycat as well as Daffy Duck as he is the focus of a running gag throughout the episode. Highly recommend it to anyone who either has never seen the show or is feeling nostalgic about seeing their favorite Looney Tunes characters on screen.

Bugs Bunny Builders: Splash Zone (2022)

A great starter episode
26 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Splash Zone - 5/5 - Mayor of Looneyburg, Foghorn Leghorn keeps asking the Looney Builders to add more to the water slide and Bugs reluctantly agrees. Compromise is highlighted as Bugs is the focal character in this episode. It demonstrates what the show is through a first impression. It keeps it looney while keeping its preschool values the main focus and it actually teaches its audience something.

Bugs Bunny Builders: Another Win for Termite Terrace!
25 July 2022
After the explosive popularity of Looney Tunes Cartoons and a resurgence of brand awareness of the Looney Tunes after Space Jam: A New Legacy, Warner Bros. Animation has found themselves another successful show. Staying true to the franchise has found WB long term success in the modern era.

Within 10 minute episodes, Bugs Bunny Builders putting the Looney Tunes in a preschool format was well executed. It stays faithful to the brand while also aiming for a young audience.

It does its job as a preschool show. And it fits Cartoonito's human-centric curriculum as the show's target audience will learn some essential skills like cooperation, teamwork, dedication, responsibility, and life lessons like compromise, sharing, and consideration all while being fascinated by the process of a construction project and of course the main characters' dynamics and confidence to get the job done.

It improves from Baby Looney Tunes released 20 years ago as the dynamic and style of preschool writing has changed as Bugs Bunny Builders is allowed to be its own thing.

Each episode either takes the Looney Builders (Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and Tweety) to anywhere in Looneyburg to build all sorts of construction jobs for the citizens or sometimes, for their friends or themselves.

The stories are paced just right. The art direction, character dynamics, and the talented voice cast (Eric Bauza, Bob Bergen, Chandni Parekh, and Jeff Bergman) all stand out. And it feels like a Looney Tunes show with the slapstick, zany antics, and witty humor kept in too.

After the first episodes premiered, it's a solid start. And I look forward to more great stories, wacky designs, and possible more character appearances along the way. This is a show that not only preschoolers/parents would love (probably Kindergarten and 1st grade students too), but also all Looney Tunes fans. Fun for all ages.

Final verdict: An entertaining Looney Tunes show for preschoolers, and eventually everyone, combining classic cartoon humor with essential skills and life lessons making it a job well done.

Big City Greens: Hiya Henry/People Watching (2019)

People Watching is The Next Best Thing in Animation
21 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Alongside the episode "Hiya Henry" filled with laughs, scares, and heart, "People Watching" the pairing's second segment, is considered to be one of the best pieces of animation I've ever seen.

Lacey Dyer and Julia Layton's simple but effective premise of the Green family (containing Cricket, Tilly, Bill, Gramma Alice, and Nancy) making up stories of city folk passing by provides strong execution thanks to the help of the show's art direction and storyboards of Kiana Khansmith & Caldwell Tanner.

The different stories and art styles from the five main characters are amusing and entertaining. Alongside that, the episode was able to provide conflict for Bill who couldn't come up with anything creative unlike the rest of the Green family. But with the help from the Greens' whimsical and creative stories, Bill has found the inspiration to tell a creative story to close out the episode strong.

If you haven't seen Big City Greens before, this episode is able to tell the different perspectives of the characters. Each of the Green family member's stories are shaped into different art styles in order to tell apart their beliefs and personalities.

Nancy's story is neutral and basic to the show's art style, but it's still creative with a message of determination.

Bill is not creative with this game so his story's art style is pencil drawings and stick figures.

Cricket's story matched with his wild and crazy personality is influenced by American comic books and Japanese anime and manga.

Gramma Alice's story is in wood-cut illustrations and medieval like, giving that she is old fashioned with a moral to tell.

Tilly's story in the style of the classic 20s-30s Disney and Max Fleischer cartoons matches her surreal and whimsical personality.

All of these aspects including the choice of character design and musical score make the episode beautiful and unique in its own way. I give props to the crew for making this episode of Big City Greens one of the best.

For animation fans, "People Watching" is worth the 11 minutes.
