Miraculous Brothers (2023– )

Great premise and great direction
12 August 2023
This drama is so compelling and so beautifully written. The story unfolds, very deliberately, and nothing is revealed in the plot to soon keeps you on the edge of your seat. The acting is just perfect. Just paced so perfectly. And I have to complement both the directors, all the crew and writers, and also art direction and of course the actors you have to make all of this come alive on the screen it really is quite something. It's full of pain hits of human beings, but also with a lot of compassion and reflection about that pain in the causes of it. It's a real subject, the touches the heart. Visually done in the style of film noir it keeps you engaged because you always feel that there's something that isn't being told isn't being seen and it requires you to reach in to your own mind to fill in the gaps and then you wanna check and see if you're right. Definitely worth watching!

The script and storyline are deeply flawed
27 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This series is about a female martial artist who has been trained from childhood along with two older brothers under a great master during the Warring States period in China. The series promises to be extremely entertaining and features the robust acting talents of a very fine cast. These great actors make it worth watching. However, I do not think the storyline or the script was deserving of these actors. First, a female martial artist, portrayed by the robustly talented Dilraba, would not ever be satisfied accepting her fate by being in bed so much and not practicing and being so confined. The script does not bring out her obviously clever side. Then, there is the stiff and inflexible character of the king, played by Zhang BinBin. He is such a charming and capable presence, but his character is so wooden that his abilities are stifled. It was frustrating to watch this and the ending is horrible. If the producers wanted to give the audience a "realistic" downer, then they certainly achieved it! This is, after all, entertainment, and not historical fiction. I did not find the last few chapters compelling at all, since I could predict everything that happened. I gave it a 5 for this lame storytelling! I hope that Zhang BinBin gets a lead role that is complex, where he is a hero and allows for some great intimate scenes. He is the best screen kisser!

Inspiring Story about a Family in the US
23 February 2020
The story of Hiro's Table is so inspiring. It's about a family in Los Angeles and shows their hard work and consistent effort to serve food at their restaurant of the highest quality and still be prosperous. It shows how they work over a period of time and the changes they go through.
