Harry the Steelworker... it could have happened... discontent was growing with Maggie and her ilk. Where would be now? I for one would have voted for Harry.. totally believable in almost every respect, including the scenes with our American "friends". Harry could be as hard as steel (excuse the pun) but his heart was totally in the right place. Ray McAnnaly was born to play this role. And the musical score... what more could be said... I believe it won a major (well deserved) reward.. and quite rightly so...
This must rank as one of the best Dramas in British Television History. I have no hesitation in calling this a classic. Totally deserved.

I think, that once you see this masterpiece, especially the finale... which ranks with probably the greatest art in music, you'll agree, simply that it is beyond excellence.
Nothing will ever come close to encapsulating the 60's (and I wasn't around then) than this work of art. I could almost live, breathe, smell and rejoice in the atmosphere.
It was a rare combination of genius, the times, and a great filmmaker that made something that I consider one of the greats of my life.
Great Moments? Mamas and Papas, the jet that flew over the festival, the (amateur?) film maker and his camera (reminded me of Donald Sutherland) and the camera moving past the sultry youth during Ravi Shankars finale. Big pieces and little moments.

Yes, it is well acted in the whole, but I'm afraid it really is just another re-manufactured Sci-Fi classic.
This hasn't borrowed ideas from Logans Run, it virtually is Logans Run slightly and I mean slightly rewritten. I almost thought I was watching Logans Run on occasion. The whole team must have really concentrated not to use EVERY idea from Logans Run, I bet they would have loved to use the term "runner" for example, but you know just one more similarity would have tipped this film over the edge as just another Logans Run remake.
It certainly isn't really an original film, but saying that, it is enjoyable although you can predict virtually every move. The originality is poor.
The ending is very cheesy and to be expected.
