So what if there were no signs of him being gay before? There were also no signs of him being straight. His sexuality had never been referenced, as it was not yet important. Stop assuming everyone is straight if characters being "suddenly gay" upsets you. A television character does not always have to be excessively flamboyant to be gay. This character development was very realistic, tasteful, and appropriate.
