Murdoch Mysteries: A Murdog Mystery (2017)
Under no circumstances is that dog sleeping in this bed
Murdoch telling Julia that "under no circumstances is that dog sleeping I that bed" followed by a panning view of Julia, William and Pistacho spooning in the bed made me laugh out loud!
Murdoch Mysteries: Up from Ashes (2017)
Unanswered Questions In This Episode
I'd like to start by saying I am a huge Murdoch Mysteries fan. With that being said, some really unanswered oddities in this episode. *Spoiler Alert*
1. The episode opens with Murdoch on the run and a politician urging Inspector Breckenreid to kill him by shooting him with a rifle. This make no sense. The Costabulary are not assassins. Murdoch has not even been to court and convicted of a crime. He is only a suspect. Since when does the Constabulary assassinate their suspects?
2. The bringing back of the Chief Constable after he was found to be corrupt in previous episodes is really far fetched. I mean everyone knows the man is corrupt and Murdoch exposed him, how is it not a conflict of interest in the least?
Just those two details kind of made the beginning of the episode a bit unbelievable and cringeworthy. The rest gets better because you don't know who is still alive.
Murdoch Mysteries: Sir. Sir? Sir!!! (2018)
W.T.F.
I am a huge Murdoch Mysteries fan. I basically have binge watched from Season 1, episode 1 and though some episodes have minor flaws, I have to wonder what in the world they were possibly thinking with this one. I kept wondering if the episode would go somewhere, but it doesn't. Everyone turns into alien pod people, the end?
God's Not Dead (2014)
Wonderful movie! A must watch!
I saw this movie in the theatre with my husband and 12 year old daughter. It was a very powerful movie. When the college professor, played by Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) asks his students to simply write God Is Dead on a piece of paper so they can move on to another chapter in his class only one student says no. The teacher is completely condescending and makes it a point to call the student out at every point because of his faith. In modern colleges, like Harvard, Princeton, etc. this is actually happening today. If you are a Christian you are mocked for being a backward thinker. This film was uplifting because it showed ways to handle atheist thought without compromising your Christian faith. I applaud the actors in the film for a great performance and the director and writers for making it happen despite the fact that main stream Hollywood had nothing to do with this film. Bravo!
ABC Weekend Specials: The Trouble with Miss Switch (1980)
Loved It As A Kid, Any One Know When It's Coming to DVD?
I tell you watching Saturday Morning Special's like this were a real treat. The only problem was the commercials! Love how their creative teacher helps the school win a football game and wipes the blackboard clean. The kids figure it out pretty quickly that Miss Switch is really.. you guessed it.. a WITCH!
I wish they had this on DVD or even VHS anywhere so my kids could watch it. I found Riki Tiki Tavi but not this.
HINT HINT to the people that have this prize in your possession. It will sell and people will rent or buy it for their children and grandchildren! Please make the DVD already.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
Pleased!
I was very pleased with the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Since the technology now exists to bring C.S. Lewis' creation to life on the big screen I was really pleased with the efforts made by the filmmakers to draw you in to Narnia. There aren't too many special effects like you will see in some more recent movies (sorry George Lucas!). Although the scene with the 4 children and the Beavers at the waterfall wasn't in the book, one can see where Peter is forced to make a decision and isn't ready to make it yet, which is in the book. If you see this movie in the theatre be prepared to hear Aslans roar as it was intended to be heard in the book. The only parts my 3 year old was scared slightly by were the ones with the wolves, other than that even she enjoyed it. My husband, my 13 year old son who also had read the book enjoyed it.
My son especially appreciated the scene where the Phoenix bird lays down a strip of Napalm (SP?) type effect with the aid of a lit arrow from Edmonds archers. The white witch definitely gets her share in the end in a brilliant scene of Aslan flying to the rescue in all his roaring lionly glory to save King Peter.
When I had read the books as a child I never knew that C.S. Lewis was writing an analogy of the life of Jesus in his stories but now that I know it does make sense. For Christians and non-Christians alike, I think this is a Theatre must see!
