DISAPPOINTED

I was really looking forward to this new adaptation of the classic novel by H G Wells, but after watching the first 45 minutes found it was disjointed and poorly produced with no cohesion. I am very very disappointed

A Beautiful Study
30 June 2019
I have watched Carol on a number of occasions, and It is for me one of the finest films I have had the pleasure to watch. The casting of Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett, was a tour de force, the chemistry between them is unmistakable, and they are well supported, with good performances from Kyle Chandler and Sarah Paulson. The music by Carter Burwell was sublime as was the direction of Todd Haynes. As the film progressed you were both hopeful but apprehensive that it could fall apart, but as with all things true love did find its way.

Disappointing
7 September 2018
I was so looking forward to watching this film, when it was shown on UK Television in 1985, after reading the novel by William Diehl, sadly the script for the film was a pale shadow of the superb book, Burt Reynolds was the right choice to play Sharkey, and Rachel Ward and Charles Durning were ok, but the the rest of the casting was poor.

The plot deviated quite a lot from the novel, and seemed unrecognizable by the end of the film.

I hope that another director will look at the material again, and redo this, because with the right backing a new version could be excellent.
