Eye-opening; fascinating; and very interesting!!

I was fortunate to catch this film at the Buddhist Film Festival in Montana a few months ago. What a great film...and with all that's going on, it's absolutely current. The film features the Dalai Lama and other religious leaders. It's about religious tolerance and very fascinating, really makes you think... Paula, who made this film, was inside the madrassas, religious schools in Muslim villages..... She used to work in Pakistan, Kashmir, was in Afghanistan, and personally experienced being trapped in a religious riot... One Muslim leader showed her how Jesus, Mary are mentioned in the Koran... I learned so much about Islam, Tolerance, intolerance....and much more. Not that I knew or know much about religion to begin with, but this sure was a big eye-opener in many ways. The film is So great for the world today...I mean, it's as if this was created for today's happenings...

I heard that the Dalai Lama is getting the Congressional Gold Medal for his work on religious tolerance in mid October in Washington, DC.... He is the main character in the film, advises us how to deal with the issue...I wish I could be there and meet him (I never really thought about wanting to meet the DL, but after seeing this doc film, I would like to meet him...If possible. I think this film will come to the theater's later this year, if I remember this right...it's def. well worth seeing...no matter what one believes...It will make you think, that's all I can say...

Origins Of Yoga is a film that anyone associated with yoga, even if in the littlest way, must see. Anybody, who take any yoga classes, no matter if at the Gym, at a studio, or at home with the TV, should def. make an effort to watch this documentary. Georg Feuerstein, Ph. D., who BTW. wrote some fabulous books on Yoga (at least 25 or so)explains how the Yogis in India practice and takes you on a beautiful journey to India. That really made me want to go there now. It's so beautiful! I do Yoga myself, and this film made me realize that we need to appreciate a lot more give a lot more, and take a lot less. Breathe in and breathe out, nice and slowly and enjoy your life!

Excellent and Informative!

This movie shows what it's really about to be a Yogi and what it really takes to be a Yogi. As a big Yoga fan myself, I never realized how true it is what real Yogis sacrifice in order to be a true Yogi. We read these things and chuckle. If all of us would only have a tenth of their discipline, the world would be a better place. I loved this film. It was so fascinating, very well written, and awesome all around. The people are beautiful and the scenery is breath taking. My next trip may be to India, who knows..... You know when people say "mind over matters". That is so true. You can see in this movie how the Yogis are able to set their mind to accomplish something, even if it seems so unreal to us. They have much better focus and will power than we do. I have a lot of respect for that and this film made me re-think the way I think and the way I act. I sure hope that there will be more movies like this as I am convinced that watching these kind of movies, esp. when created so beautifully, can only better a person.
