Exploring the psyche of ISIS
8 September 2017
DAESH: Exiting Hell is a 13-episode series which takes us to Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Morocco and Lebanon to explore the psyche of ISIS defectors. Journalist Ali Mula leads the one-on-one interviews with ex-ISIS intelligence agents, recruiters, policemen and women, student organizers and even car bomb makers. We learn about how ISIS uses psychological manipulation and aims at the weak points of vulnerable people who are desperate to change the reality of their lives. And so, looking for financial rewards, sexual gratification and even intellectual fulfillment they join ISIS only to find terror, cruelty, abuse, brutality, paranoia, distrust and oppression. These defectors realized their decision cost them their future, and they're trying to do something about it.
