CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Boston Brakes (2014)
FAILED Script from another show or pilot.
Words that Don fit with characters we know.
Bad flow, none of the classic CSI beats.
Tropes and cliches
Boring boring boring.
Was it vacation week for writers and directors.
Feels like writer had a script from another procedural. FBI level etc. And just crammed dialog into our characters we what the show for.
Not sure how this made the cut.
Why do I need to write 200 more characters to get the point across that this is a badly adapted script that should have never made it past first read.
I would skip this episode for your own sanity.
You have been warned about this episode, do not watch.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Most like Original Trek and creator's vision.
I'm not a crusty fan who only needs my Trek one way. I have enjoyed ALL the series and 2/3 movies.
But this feels like it honors Roddenberry's vision most.
Gene wanted more women in leadership the network said no and his Trek was ground breaking in its time for cast diversity. This one I'd just call format breaking with majority strong women and diversity.
Some complain when Trek goes diverse the call it woke.
But Star Trek's origin is breaking tropes and network formula.
It's not woke, in one line it showed it was far from it.
Pike refers to "competing views of liberty"
What a refreshing way of discussing our current culture's conflict vs calling each other fascists. And calling for censorship.
When I invited the whole family to watch it, everyone from 18 to 58 loved it.
See You Yesterday (2019)
Fresh take on paradox, worried about anyone who hates this.
Bringing paradox to a new generation in a topical way.
Also think it trieds hard too bridge to those who don't want to believe real problems by staying too light in the middle.
A bit uneven in the middle, it needed to stay more serious.
The topics explored weare hard and real.
Christmas at the Chateau (2019)
Low budget movie with moments
Definitely low budget, probably starting film makers.
Really good at the narrator setting the story. Opening and narrator bridges are charming.
Not so good at dialog.
Characters don't totally make sense.
The male lead has a poorly designed character arc.
Writers clearly hate bankers, but didn't research the industry much.
Oh and camera person, has serious issues metering shots with small bright objects in center. And didn't review footage on site.
