Yellowstone (2018)
TRYING TOO HARD TO BE COOL
With IMDB of 8.6 and first few episode constant killing give me high expectation on the show. But no more than 3 episode in make me feel very bored. Every problem get solved so easy with barely any repercussions. Constantly introducing new enemies and then killing them in 2 seconds is not how you keep the flame.
Every character constantly trying to look badass when delivering the lines make it's hard to believe or interest. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) is the only character i'm interested (3 seasons and 3 episode in) and i still have several doubts on his decisions and character.
Wild West - Cowboy theme mixed with politics and Indian tribe but none get fully delivered (only when it's convenient) make it very paled.
The main focus is the Duttons have a lot of similarities with the Roys in Succession (similar to the new episode releasing date) but i can say that Succession had done way better than Yellowstone.
I'm still watching the show, but a little disappointed from the high expectation.
Edit: At episode 9 of season 4, I give up. Boring and overrated show.
Succession: The Disruption (2021)
SEND A BIG LOGAN ROY-STYLE "F@#$ OFF" TO THAT 1 STAR RATING RIGHT HERE
This episode was nothing short of a perfect episode. The season so far is awesome, the dialogues are subperb, the actings are phenolmenal...
I have no doubt that this season will be lit till the very end. I have no doubt that this show will reach like top 5 HBO drama of all time.
And of course, another "F@#$ off" to "Over And Out review" :D.
The Morning Show (2019)
SEASON 1 WAS OK BUT SEASON 2 IS GARBAGE
I thought the first season was ok, not always enjoy it but ok. The plot was thick and they knew what they were doing. The shock at the end was good stuff. Completely mesmerized with Billy Crudup's performance. Not a favored to win contender but surely spiced up the award shows.
Season 2 came and they want to talk about Covid. OK, i see they want to be The Newsroom (a show i really love for outstanding dialogues) so i was very hyped. But then OMG, how easily boring everything gets. With 2 years off for them to work and they can still manage to ruin everything of season 1. The plot is everywhere and nowhere (i wrote this review when i'm 6 episode in season 2), everybody just whining all the time and the ONLY interesting character is (of course) Billy Crudup. Alex is annoying, Bradley is stupid AND annoying and what is Mitch still doing here? Uninteresting woke plot with zero logic is Season 2.
Stay away from this for your own good. Season 2 just proved that season 1's success was just a fluke.
Run (2020)
WITHOUT A DOUBT THE WORST SHOW EVER MADE BY HBO
Enjoyed Fleabag, so Phoebe involvement was very hyped for me but it was a completed miss.
Stupid plot based on weak foundation really destroy this whole show, main characters are not interest at all and the ending was worst than GoT.
Phoebe's character was uninterest too, the only character i liked (unexpectedly) was Archie Panjabi's Fiona.
I'll only recommend this show to people i hate and let it slowly be forgotten because this is a total waste of time. Do yourself a favor and watch ANY OTHER SHOW ON HBO and skip this one now.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Another case of "touched by our savior - Netflix"
First season was super good, way better than anyone expected on a sequel. Second season was enjoyable. But the third ... with the shifting over to Netflix, just plainly bad and repetitive. The story just go on repeating itself and just trying so hard to be more and the result was completely underwhelming.
I write this review when they announce the release date for season 4 and the renewal of season 5. Based on season 3, i would not like the story to go far down this road, at all. Trying too hard and lost all the sparks of the 1st season, the comedy is plain while drama is stupid, repetitive approach with major plot holes, endless result of fight scene with on stupid reasons (just because they want to fight karate maybe) and so on...
Everything was great and then stretch them too thin make them not great anymore. It's sad because i used to be overwhelmed with joy when they announce season 3 at Netflix, and now i just wish they'd stopped before they destroy everything great about it.
Billions (2016)
Stop while you're ahead
First 2 season was so underratedly good, can probably head-to-head with some of HBO. Then season 3 was a small set back in quality, several things being dragged and stretched too much. Season 4 just plainly poor, let Bryan go whilst kept Tyler Mason was a big and questionable choice. Then season 5 ... awful, intolerable compare to the predecessor. The painter is plain and boring, new character are not interesting, a Julianna Margulies that contribute nothing and the Tyler Mason gamble is a complete lost.
I kept going back hoping they'll get better, even after the mid season break. But now, i've completely dropped it and i recommend you should too after season 2 :D it only going down after that.
Dexter (2006)
Not as impressive as i thought
Watching too much of HBO causes me to have a high expectation on this ... and underwhelming i was delivered.
Premises is cool, it's about a serial killer that kills other killers, but the execution is all boring. So many characters (Angel, Masuka and Laguerta) that add nothing to the story or add so little that you can cut them all out and it wouldnt change much. Each season is a different serial killer that Dexter has to hunt so they have the benefit of clean slate each season, and so it became repetitive with decreasing in shocking element as it goes.
Not recommending the ended one but a reboot is coming soon, i have higher hope on that the original.
Your Honor (2020)
There was a time i rate this series a 10 ...
One hell of a start only to see it all go everywhere and nowhere.
The acting is great. Waste a lot of talented actor though. And watching Bryan Cranston do everything he can to save the series included directing the finale but the writting is completely stupid, bad and zero logic at all.
The kid is annoying as hell makes me almost give up the series but i manage to stay through only to have THE MOST inappropriate ending for A MINISERIES :)
So if you love Bryan Cranston, you should watch it but if you're looking for a great series / story, i recommend you skip this one.
