Ugly on the Inside (2005)
A Wonderfully Funny and Important Film!
I was lucky enough to see this film at the Palm Springs Festival and can't say enough great things about it. Beautifully shot and the scenery was incredible. The acting was wonderful especially the character of Rayanne.
The filmmakers did a great job delivering an important message on the cycle of domestic violence and violence in film. They we're able to do it in a unique and humorous way without getting heavy handed at the same time keeping the film accessible with commercial appeal. The characters were well developed which is difficult to do in any short and the dialogue was perfect.
I'm still recovering from all of the great short films I saw during the week long festival. I think this film was robbed of the best film award. Let's see some of the awards start going to difficult comedies instead of death and dying films that are way too artsy for their own good.
Nudity Required (2003)
Fun Way To Pass The Time!
I saw this film in Santa Fe and loved it, despite the fact that there was no nudity in it. I have to admit I went to this movie hoping to see the Dahm girls naked and was sadly let down on that end. So I can see why a 16 year old boy would hate this movie. But the filmmakers were very careful not to become what they were making fun of. They suckered me into seeing this film but I'm glad they did.
The dialogue was great. And for a low budget film the production value was decent. I pretty much laughed from the first moments to the end especially the opening credits and the audition scene. The acting for the most part was strong with the characters of Oded and Joey stealing the movie.
There's not a deep plot in this film. Basically it's a silly comedy with several inspired jabs at the male dominated Hollywood elite. It's more about relationships and coming of age rather then action. It keeps you entertained and laughing and is a fun way to spend a couple of hours. It reminds me of a Kevin Smith film without the vulgarity. I would highly recommend this movie to everyone except 16 year old boys who want to see the nudity or adult men who can't get over themselves.
