Garry Marshall show reunion is lots of fun!
15 April 2024
This episode is almost a complete reunion for Garry Marshall's television productions. Actors from Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and Mork & Mindy all appear. The tone of the episode matches the tones found in those shows. It's campy and silly, and thus if that's your thing, quite fun! I love all of the early episodes of Diagnosis: Murder, but I find the tone shifts greatly by the third season into something much darker. Dick Van Dyke wasn't a fan of this shift and worked for a change in the show. There are a few bright spots in it this dark period however, including this episode! It's one we find ourselves often coming back to when we feel like watching something light.

Some other great, light, episodes of Diagnosis: Murder include:

  • Comedy is Murder
  • Sleeping Murder
  • A Mime is a Terrible Thing to Waste
  • Discards
  • A Resting Place

The television films that came out before the tv show began are also quite good :)

Witty, Zany, Fun!
24 February 2024
I'm not quite sure how I'll reach the 600 required characters for this review, because all I wish to say is that this is such a fun, witty, rather zany film! It's in a very similar vein to Bringing Up Baby, with I personally think a similar level of wit. My family hates Bringing Up Baby (which I personally love,) but they enjoyed this movie very much. Although it's fast-paced, the dialouge is a bit easier to follow than Bringing Up Baby, You have to go in to watching the film accepting the fact that it is silly, and you will have a wonderful time. It's most definitely being added to my family's favorite movies list! I only wish it was available to get on DVD! We currently can only find it on TCM.

Starring Eddie Braken, Priscilla Lane, Tom Conway, and a dog who has a habit of chewing every table leg -- with a hilarious bit with Fritz Feld as a temperamental pianist.

We like lightweight silliness!
27 August 2023
If you search through the sea of countless dark Diagnosis Murder episodes to find the gems that involve Dick Van Dyke rollerskating through the halls, bantering with his son, and fitting in a little bit of soft-shoe, then you will enjoy this! It has so many fun lighthearted moments, from (slight spoilers) when he is accidentally mistaken as being the deliverer of a singing telegram, to an invisble-man-like ensemble.

As one of the other reviewers for this episode mentioned, there are a couple of creepy things scattered throughout, but it is done in almost a tongue in cheek sort of a way. Everything that appears to be somewhat on the creepy side at first, is flipped on its head almost. The foggy, spooky House on Sycamore Street for one. But I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers.

The mystery of course was well done, with many twists and turns about. The ending was satisfying, and fit well with the theme.

Has to be my least favorite episode (spoilers)

Warning: Spoilers
I was interested in watching this episode because I am also a big watcher of That Girl, and Ted Bessel stars in this episode. If you are expecting to see Donald, think twice. His character is absolutely horrible! He doesn't mind embarrassing Mary and brings bad things out of her. After she finds out he is cheating on her, she runs back to him. This is completely unlike Mary and I was very surprised and was totally expecting her to run out of that door, but she didn't. I would skip this one if I were you.
