A Gamer's Movie
10 November 2007
I grew up in the 90s playing this game to death. I never got to see the movie in theaters because of a previous engagement at the time. I can see partially where people would complain about it, but for the most part it is a movie that any gamer or one well-acquainted with the series will enjoy. Non-gamers may enjoy it as well. It has plenty of action. This movie is pre-special effects. This is what makes it so powerful yet so simple at the same time. It doesn't rely on effects--it relies on the storyline alone. For adults who were growing up back then, this is a serious trip down memory lane. You have to stop and ask--"where were you when the Street Fighter movie came out?" I suppose as hardcore gamers and fans, nit-picking is in our system. We expect video game movies to be right on the dot of the storyline within the game. We are disappointed when these expectations are not delivered. A good movie about a fabulous game really doesn't have to do so. Street Fighter proves this by taking elements of each character's story from the game and putting in on screen. It is a classic in its own right.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Handbanana (2006)
Season 4, Episode 5
10/10
This puppy isn't for the kids....SERIOUSLY. (Contains partial Spoiler!)
25 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The Aqua Teens have been killing me with laughter since I was a Freshman in high school. The Hand Banana episode is one of the many hilarious shows in the 5th season that takes the cake. His token phrase "Tonight...you" is so simple yet causes me personally to lose my mind with laughter. First of all, you have to wonder why a mutated dog would say that. With the A-Teens, you KNOW it's going to be something crazy. Surely enough, he's chasing the hairy hide of their neighbor, Carl. Hand banana initially is behind or around Carl at all times, driving him nuts especially because Carl is the only one who can hear him talk. It's a pretty sick yet hilarious episode. I've been using the "tonight...you" phrase since then and infecting the minds of many people.

Swept Away (2002)
9/10
It's no Casablanca, but it has heart.
28 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Madonna is a singer, not an actress. However, I think she did just fine in this movie. It has absolutely nothing to do with whom she married. She played her part of the snooty socialite turned humbled woman just fine. This movie was the perfect example of an unexpected, ragged love. I feel that it can be seen as one of the greatest love movies ever; it is tragic, it is something that could happen. It isn't like all the other love stories that have come and gone. It does not work out perfectly in the end, unfortunately as viewers will come to find. It was real, and not the fairy-tale romance we often see in modern and even older movies. The storyline itself made me realize through one line that sometimes what we want is not exactly what we need. I felt that was the message throughout the entire movie as Amber basically was stripped of her "good life" and was forced into being with Pepe and eventually becoming his lover. Call me crazy for loving Swept Away, but this movie made a deep point about true love, and love that isn't so real. It wasn't some overdone Hollywood flick. It had glamor and glitter, but it still held on to a piece of true human life.

Very Funny Show!
23 May 2006
Although I myself am way over the age of 3, with no children of my own, I feel that Peep and the Big Wide World is classic children's educational television. The lessons are intelligently woven into light-hearted comedic situations featuring Peep, Quack, and Chirp. The characters themselves are absolutely adorable and get into all sorts of trouble exploring the world around them. Quack is the quirky smart-alec, Peep is the "middle bird", and Chirp is the energetic, sometimes a little wild bird. Children and adults in general will all enjoy this show and perhaps may find themselves in characters in the "big wide world".

This was a really cute show!
6 December 2005
I was about 11 or 12 when Charlie Horse Music Pizza aired, but I was a fan nonetheless having grown up with Shari Lewis shows in the early 90s. She was a part of me. This show was just like any other Shari Lewis creation; it had good musical numbers, just the right amount of comedy, and of course life lessons. I really missed the show when it went off the air. I remember coming home just to watch it and sing the theme song. What made this show truly special was the fact that anyone of any age could watch it and get something out of it. It wasn't too childish. It was a good family show that pretty much kept up with the times but had it's own special sensitive appeal.
