Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
A Sumptuous film
Well, I really enjoyed the film. Can't see why their are so many negative reviews on here. Not being a complete historian, I appreciated the film for what is is, and appreciated the story which loosely reflected true events over 450 years ago. Take it as a historical drama, a period piece if you like, and you'll appreciate a worthy trip to the cinema, or indeed watching it on your home screen all good time. The two lead rolls are splendidly well acted, especially Mary herself, as played by the fresh faced Saoirse Ronan. Boy has she got venom, and bravery. Some lovely photography, an amazing film soundtrack, and most of all, not a piece of CGI in sight!. I'm sorry, but I really rate this film, it's no where as bad as other reviews have made out, take my word for it. Out of ten : Lead Acting 9/10 Photography 8/10 Music 10/10 Script 7/10 Costumes 9/10 Overall production 9/10. Go see!
The Cherokees: The Burger Van at the End of the Gig (2017)
Quirky, funny, surreal and likeable music!
Introducing the Cherokees as you've never seen them before! Well, here's to what is a new feature length movie, of which is pieced together from the TV shows that ran in Australia. Plot is somewhat muddled, but the characters are fun, and some of the music is really catchy. Take it for what it is, and you'll enjoy this tantalising little sojourn. What the film does offer is laughs, likeable rogues, and a few nicely put together sketches much the same as the 60's tv show 'Monkees' If you can catch this, then worth your time. Like they say, Grab your guitars and hitch a ride - and enjoy life on the road with the Cherokees! Recommended.
The Missouri Breaks (1976)
Time has done wonders for 'Missouri Breaks...'
Just watched it again. Fantastic movie
. time has done wonders for Missouri Breaks! Several scenes appear to be 'natural' (Like when a horse shakes for no reason, mid dialogue – but the acting keeps rolling) The film is also quite dramatic and eery. Really off beat and also quite art- house. Love it. great music score, and funnily enough, very realistic. Plus sides
. Movie Poster (Bob Peak art) wonderful poster. Lovely sparse film score by John Williams. Brando's eccentricity keeps you captivated. Jane Braxton character
.very loyal. So many good things about this movie, things that you never see in to-days modern movie making. Missouri Breaks sure packs a punch, even today. A hidden masterpiece worth revisiting indeed.
