W jak morderstwo (2021)
Just could not finish
Maybe it's not fair for me to write a review, because I couldn't even finish this movie.
I don't write many reviews, and I almost never NEVER give up on a movie less than halfway through but that's what I did here.
Maybe it was the poor translation from Polish into English or just a different cultural dialog between Poland and USA where I am, but I just really couldn't get into this movie. I am usually a sucker for any and all Murder Mysteries, but not this one.
I had never heard of the movie when I added it to my Netflix queue (March, 2024), so I watched it based on all the positive reviews here on IMDB.
Yet the rating is currently 5.5/10. A vast majority of the reviews are glowingly positive. I feel like I've been misled!
Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?: The Last Inmate! (2020)
Hilarious
The gang and Morgan Freeman both mock the original cartoon continuously in this hilarious thriller.
How do they pass between walls when they repeat that "running through different doors in the hallway" gag?
How do Shaggy and Scooby really eat those massive sandwiches, and what kind of meat is in there, and sometimes there are whole cans of food inside!
Fred makes a hilarious doppelganger of a trap.
Of course Daphne loses her glasses, and they even show a flashback where she once wore contacts, and lost those too!
I won't reveal the ending gag, but it ties in to one of Freeman's classic movies.
I loved this episode! I can't wait to watch some of the others from this series.
Wicker Park (2004)
I absolutely LOVE this movie!
OK I have to confess that I only initially watched this movie because of DIANE KRUGER. I adored her in NATIIONAL TREASURE and looked up other movies she was in; she is equally beautiful in this romantic mystery.
It's a non-linear movie (Think Memento, Pulp Fiction). that you have to watch twice though, to piece it all together. My review is simple: I LOVED IT. What follows is my SEQUENTIAL summary to help anyone piece it together:
Here's my chronological ordering of the movie if you didn't get to watch it twice to tie it all together:
Two years ago, Alex fell in love with Matt first. She stalked him and knew he worked at the camera shop. Her dropping off the camcorder for repair totally backfired, as it ultimately brought Lisa & Matt together.
We later see Alex sabotage their relationship, withholding Lisa's note and deleting the answering machine messages. Then the final dagger, lying to Lisa that she caught him in bed with another woman.
Two years later in current day, here's how the movie unfolds chronologically:
Day 1
* Luke drops Alex off at Bellucci's where she's meeting Lisa. He bumps into Matt outside. Lisa is inside at the bar. Alex is at a table. Alex calls Lisa to keep her from seeing Matt, and then tells her "go there now", to her apartment.
* Lisa then calls Daniel; this is the conversation that Matt overhears
* Matt takes a sleeping pill for his flight
* Matt retrieves Lisa's Drake Hotel card and then her makeup compact case from the hotel
* Matt spends the night at Drake
Day 2
* Matt borrows Luke's car to attend funeral
* Matt Follows Daniel to Lisa's apt, retrieves key, leaves note and rose
* Alex encourages Matt to return to look for Lisa, so he does
* Alex feigns illness and cancels her date with Luke, returns to Lisa's apt.
* Lisa finds Matt there, she later seduces him
Day 3
* Lisa finds Matt's handkerchief with Alex
* Lisa returns to Bellucci's and gets the note from Matt
* She tries to call Luke but he's in the shower and has no answering machine!
(Major plot hole that Matt didn't give Lisa his cell number)
* Luke asks Matt to attend play
* After play, Matt returns to ticket office but also retrieves Lisa's discarded key.
* He returns to Lisa's apt. and finds clothes are gone, but red shoes he sold her, with broken heel, are there.
* Luke spends night with Alex
* Where did Matt sleep? Maybe he spends the night again at Lisa's ?
Day 4
* Morning: Lisa calls Luke, Matt calls Luke. Alex goes back to Lisa's apt.
* Alex tries on shoes, they don't fit
* Matt leaves. Alex calls Luke "let's meet", so Luke won't be home to give Matt the "Wicker Park" message from Lisa. If Lisa is heading to London, this can be Alex's chance to continue things with Matt
* Matt runs into Luke outside of Bellucci's (AGAIN!), meets Alex for "the drink"
* Matt and Lisa miss each other at Wicker Park but connect at airport
Common Knowledge (2019)
Good show, good host
I think it's a good show, interesting questions, and Joey Fatone does a good job with pacing, acting normal, and sense of humor. He's a likeable host and doesn't act like an idiot.
Someone here mentioned never seeing a final round winner; I have watched dozens of episodes and seen many winners. A lot more than "America Says".
If you like interesting trivia, these are good, fun questions. Sometimes Jeopardy! questions and Master Mind are too difficult. These questions are more , how would you say....... "Common Knowledge", LOL. Though some of the numeric-answer questions are not "common knowledge" at all, and are a pure guess.
The show makes you feel good because the "common" viewer can probably answer at least half the questions.
How Do You Know (2010)
Got bored halfway through
I don't usually write reviews.
I was very encouraged by this movie. With such a great cast signing up, I thought it must be a terrific script. "Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Jack Nicholson". Maybe I was having a bad day, but halfway through the movie I really got bored. There was zero chemistry between Lisa and her two male pursuits.
The F**k-It List (2020)
Great eye candy
I watched it only because of NATALIE ZEA, and I kept watching it only because of Madison Iseman. What can I say, I love beautiful women! The Dad was really annoying to watch, definitely someone needed to fix his hair.
The movie wasn't as bad as I expected due to the stupid title, but the other reviews here on IMDB are all pretty dismal.
November Criminals (2017)
Wow, very unimaginative plot
(Spoilers)
I don't usually write reviews but this had less plot than the worst MURDER SHE WROTE or DIAGNOSIS MURDER!
Give me something more to it than "go ask this guy, he knows who did it", and then the motorcycle is parked outside his house!
Wow. Just wow.
After All These Years (2013)
The acting of the suspects , ugh !
I thought Audrey (Wendie Malick from my hometown of Buffalo) was great, but I thought the acting of her female suspects was terrible!
I read a lot of reviews and I'm never as critical of acting as most. I see acting complaints in a lot of films where I'm not that picky, just enjoy the story , and find myself saying "wow what are you talking about ??"
But I found the poor acting / over-acting to be a distraction in AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. So I noticed. Enough to write this review.
I love a good murder mystery, and this story did keep my attention, and I didn't guess the suspect. I am a huge COLUMBO fan and I enjoyed her subtle reference to Columbo with one "Oh just one more thing" comment. And I also couldn't help notice that Wendie Malick looks great for her age and has a smokin' hot body that I would rate a 10 , even though I only rated the movie a 6.
