Honesty is dark
30 November 2023
The first time I watched this version, I was mesmerized and a little nauseous- Scrooge clearly had gone to a very very dark place compared to other versions. I mean, he's pretty despicable- even worse than the George C Scott version. The whole series is extremely dark and depressing and definitely not for children! But there's a glimmer of honesty in Scrooge and with that...... I dare not give spoilers but in my honest opinion, this series should be seen. It's way grittier than Dickens but I think he would have approved (after being depressed).

Guy Pierce gives a wonderful Scrooge performance as does everyone but I was most impressed by characters who had no lines. Even without words, they told a wonderful story in other ways.

I love this show!

I reviewed the first season of "Shrill" and just finished the 2nd and I loved it even more than the first!! It was so funny and kinda painful at the same time. My husband and I own the pharmacy featured in the 2nd episode so like the first season first episode, I got to witness the acting and crew up close and personal AND got to meet Aidy (and even got a picture with her). Not only is the show a lot of fun to watch, she's a classy lady herself.

Annie's still on the road to self-discovery and I love that the show's not only funny and witty, that it's not afraid of real emotion. I watch other shows (I'll use Gilmore Girls) and while GG has some real emotional pull, it doesn't tug at the heart-strings like Shrill. I don't mean the fake kind - Shrill shows depth and I like that.

I don't want to give away any spoilers because I want the audience to discover the treasures for themselves. I hope Shrill is renewed for a third season - y'all rock!!

Loved It!

I love Shrill! I am a bit biased though as I had an opportunity to watch a couple of scenes being filmed (my husband and I own the pharmacy where there were a couple of small scenes filmed). That being said, I didn't know what to expect when I watched the final product but I was very impressed! Annie is a full figured gal like myself who feels like she has to apologize to everyone for everything but she finds her voice and it's great to watch her character unfold. I cringed at some of the characters and the way she was treated but she persevered. I don't want to give spoilers as I want everyone to enjoy it. Aidy, you are wonderful to watch and I love your clothes!
