Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
Read the book. Endure the movie.
Although the acting is good, especially Mollie and Ernest Burkhart, the movie falls far short of the gripping book. The book is 'can't put it down' excellent. It tells the sad story of the abuse of the Osage during their oil boom, the infancy of J Edgar Hoover's FBI and the incredible story of Texas Ranger Tom White who brings the culprits to justice. The movie totally changes the facts (many, many Osage were murdered for money), cherry picks what it likes, discards what it doesn't and, frankly, would have been a far better movie had it stuck to the original source material. The book was riveting. I highly recommend reading the book before seeing the movie. Better still, read the book and skip the movie. The movie is a 3 hour less than truthful, boring mess. It's a pity.
Mystery 101: Deadly History (2021)
Flat, boring, no college, no Bud.
This was the weakest episode of the series. It does not take place at the college and; therefore, drops familiar characters (without Bud, it's not Mystery 101-seriously, no Bud! Give Preston a meaty storyline elsewhere if you can't use him here, he's a fan favorite), yet it includes actors from other Hallmark mystery movies. Did not find this episode engaging. Acting was strained. Dialogue was vapid. Storyline was too predictable. If you can't figure out who done it in the first 10 minutes, you weren't really watching. Seems they were trying to cover up a pregnant leading lady, again (I'm just guessing) because camera angles are strange. Go back to campus folks and stick with original premise. Imagine if they moved Hannah Swenson out of the bakery and into the ER, lol.
Doctor Who (2005)
Amelia Pond, get your coat!
Doctor Who in an atrocious Mork and Mindy outfit. Why? THREE instantly forgettable companions. Why? Boring story lines with zero relatability to past, extraordinary, complex, funny, likable Doctor Who's. Why? Political correctness being shoved down our throats. Why? I've been a true blue fan since the 70's but this is NOT Doctor Who. It's as though the writers have not bothered to watch past seasons. Zero continuity. There is no "bright side" here unless you consider the extra recording space on your DVR. The Frog was simply the last straw. "Amelia Pond, GET YOUR COAT", we are leaving.
Keen Eddie (2003)
One of the smartest TV shows ever written.
Absolutely one of the best written, smartest, funniest, most visually stimulating TV shows ever written. The camera work is great. The music is excellent. The laughs are constant. Yes, you do need a brain to follow the fast moving plots. The actors and acting is right on the money. You can't help but love the characters - both good and bad. The dog - is he great or what? Moneypenny, The Sticky Wicket, The Chemist -priceless. Mark Valley deserves more air time than he gets on Boston Legal. Where is Julian?! If you want intelligent laughs, Keen Eddie is for you. No wonder it didn't last. It's a treasure - not the usual TV garbage.
