I Read most of the reviews and most of the folks that gave negative reviews seem baffled as to why people love the show. To me, the obvious answer is because the stripped down characters of this dysfunctional family are familiar to most people. It is the drama of the show that is the hook, the horror aspect gives a setting for their story to be told. What makes it so enjoyable is that we care about these characters and connect with them in some way. So I give the writers and the source material major props for creating and allowing the cast members the space to develop the characters. Many horror shows and movies fall flat because no one gives a darn what happens to the people in the the movie.....it's like they are just there to get us from point A to point B. This show makes it a point to be driven by characters rather than plot while also staying true to the genre.

I can handle a horror movie that doesn't end up being scary as long as it is a decent attempt at film making and tells a good story. This was just a complete mess....that's all I can say. Horrible script, abysmal acting, and a complete waste of time.
