L.A. Confidential (1997)

You won't miss a second !! Ooozes quality

Every second of this film is pure quality. Firstly it's a good story well thought out . The richness of the way it's filmed and the colours .

It's a thriller with with atmosphere and edge with characters believable in that era .

Russell Crow's performance is pure tension all the way through ( he lives at an edge ) Guy Pierce is the smooth intelligent thinker .

I've watched this film so many times but not for a long time and it still does everything in tension , atmosphere and just a great film at every level .

So many good actors that make a fantastic quality film that will always be one of the best Police realistic police thriller's.

Sit back and enjoy

When it starts you really can't figure what's about to happen , but you know it's something interesting.

This is just an enjoyable adventure on similar lines to John Wick , but done with a sense of black fun

The film takes a different turn at around 30mins when he takes a bus ride , then you'll know what the films about . After that it never stops with the none stop action .

Great characters and great stunts , it's just a film I can watch if I want to smile and just sit back and enjoy .

This is not a film to move the world in or think about . It is a film to sit back with a bit of excitement for the good guy and just enjoy .

Glass Onion (2022)

Wants rid of his Bond image

This is nothing more than a poor reworking of lots of Agatha Christie films or books .

It looks quality and with a great cast but at over 2 hrs and a very convoluted story with that many twists would anyone really have a clue whodunnit !!

The joy of a Columbo story was you knew and just watched others figure it . Everything about this film is so over the top and just silly . It takes aaay any interest or suspense that a film like this should have .

It certainly gets Daniel Craig away from his Bond character and let's see if we see him next in a musical doing song and dance routines

There's lots of good ratings here and I just wonder if they actually watched it or just voted it up.

Rogue Agent (2022)

Amazes what people get away with !!

Most of the reviews are very negative about this film . Don't see why I was hooked from the first , the fact this is based on truth and after seeing it I can faintly remember it .

The story here is far worse than anyone could ever imagine and that the conman could be so unscrupulous.

I felt the story kept you watching from the first minute hoping for a good end . I felt it was well put together and did exactly what we hoped .

Well worth the watch.

Just seems like preposterous junk !! Where is us supposed to be set ? Downtown LA where a policeman can drive around with a gun , beat people up , crash cars where air bags don't go off . Take bribes previously, the list goes in . Just far to daft to be credible!!

Ozark (2017–2022)

Like a complete series with an end

I've loved this show from the very opening episode. It had me hooked for lots of reasons and simply no compromise to niceties or nastiness!!

From its start very nice people who weren't as nice as we thought simply got into a deeper quagmire at every which way they thought would give them a way out !!

There's was some fabulous actors who gave their all , along with superb writers and directors especially Jason Bateman

After 44 episodes it came to an end , so after all that we can now relax !!

Emotional!!

This whole documentary is an emotional journey . When we look back now at those years and our very blinkered views .

This was a heartwarming tribute to a wonderful singer songwriter that adored life and showed it . Taken far to early through nothing more than loving life

If it doesn't put a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye !!

Prey (VI) (2021)

There's so many of these films about . All exactly the same

Plot , people enjoying themselves suddenly picked off for no reason at all by a complete stranger !!

That's everything, staple products for Netflix and Amazon . Reality is never seen a good one , mainly because as in them all them all we never know why.

Really enjoyed this , thought the whole thing was very well paced with none of the usual finding A whole back story about a hard up difficult life copper !!

Just went for the story and it didn't stop . I thought the whole thing well put together . Of course there was a few plot holes , after all it's a story in a limited time .

6 episodes came and went.

Queenpins (2021)

Didn't have a clue or any expectations about this film , I hadn't heard of any of the cast either

So within a few minutes I liked the feel of it , then as it progresses the story got better , the story more interesting and along with the characters just got funnier !!

Vince Vaughan suddenly appears adds a bit . In the total of it, I loved all of it good story , funny film and every bit enjoyable.

It's not offering anything extraordinary, just 100 mins of fun that I could easily enjoy again.

Speed Kills (2018)

I started watching this then looked at the reviews and nearly switched off , it's a common thing after 10 mins on a Netflix / Prime pick

I didn't and this film I thought was pretty good , nothing to taxing but did have sympathy for the main character trying to live his high life in the sort of right way !! No hope there

Overall much better than I expected, try it.

There is no logic , point or story It's lit like a supermarket!!

This is 6 hours long !! That's 4 good films worth !!

It could have been done as a feature film 90mins

It doesn't show Australia in a good light , takes it back to the 50's .

One surprise is how good their mobiles signals are , in the middle of the outback not a problem perfect !!

As for anything else about this series , it tries lots of different angles and do any of f them work , I'll leave it up to you !!

Around the World in 80 Days (2021– )

I was looking forward to this and it had a great look of quality about it !!

After watching the first couple of episodes it had got nowhere and just became the bland rant about politics and all from a certain angle that we've got used to with the BBC

It's supposed to be an adventure!! Never go close and I guess in a few episodes it's whole audience has vanished with boredom.

On a different note , I can't off much where Jason Bateman hasn't been great , this is his sort of film light , happy and a bit troubled !

Overall just a great fun film . Along with lots of childish humour !! What's not to like.

Just watch it and enjoy and smile.

The Girl Before (2021)

This is a 1hr bit of a thriller DRAGGED out to 4 hours !!

All I can say is that the miserable looking house would probably have Kevin Mcloud excited beyond belief !!

Best idea watch the first one then skip to the last 10 mins ! You can easily fill in what you didn't see !!

Sooo long !! Everything dragged out with nothing really happening . Any suspense just gets lost in fill time .

For me the film was an hour to long and not really probable . As someone old enough to remember the original TV series made in the era of the Sweeney etc seemed so much more real !!

If you've scene Holy Grail Monty Python and the Knight guarding scene , this is very similar!! Honest It's a bit of fun with an awful lot of water .

In a more serious point , it's pretty enjoyable if not a bit daft . Probably exactly what you'll have already expected.

Only watched the first episode and really enjoyed it . Clarkson being Clarkson ....obnoxious and annoying BUT funny !!

This is a man that's never done anything manual or actually hard work which farming really is . We all know his lack of patience and you have to wonder how many times he wondered this idea for a show really wasn't the thing to do .

So far lots of fun watching him completely out of his depth and making a prat of himself !!

Long Shot (2019)

Don't take this as anything more than a romcom . It's great it's funny and full of nice warm characters mostly !!

There's some slapstick stuff and it all works .

Forget the negatives on here and just watch it for the romantic fun that it is !!! Nothing more than that.

Uncut Gems (2019)

Rollercoaster!!

Intense 2 hrs !! It's loud and shouty and really in your face , gives you a rollercoaster of a ride from start to finish .

Adam Sandler is superb just brilliant, never knew he could be this way and he really became the person !!

It's a great film that never gives you a minute. No real sympathy for any of the characters but you do believe in them all !

A film to watch , just be prepared.

Trying hard to keep interested . One of my favourite films ever is "Rear Window " which this is the same story done differently.

Sadly it's got none of the drama or involvement.

I can't imagine such sparse Police resources or few police involved.

It seems they're DRAGGING it out for 5 nights with no real story and what there is, is a bit obvious!!
