The Northman (2022)
A Lot of Tosh
Having eagerly waited to see this I managed to go last night. Sat down ready and as it started, 5 mins in I said to myself I hope this gets better, unfortunately it did not.
It's reminiscent of a low par version of vikings in some respects, the trailer in my opinion contained the best bits and misled me.
I get it's a dark and miserable time, but when people are bounding along howling like dogs, ( though I did see the tie in to the beserkers ) it's the first time ever I thought I was going to leave the cinema.
I stayed and watched it through, some likenesses as well to game of thrones, a twist here and there but not enough to make me want to see it twices.
Each to their own but it wasn't for me, others may see it differently, but for what cold be claimed as a star studded cast it failed to shine.
Everybody's Child (2014)
A punch to the Socila Conscious
If your kids like mine are spoiled, sit them down and show them this. What a story of a boys struggle to survive in life in Edinburgh.
Maybe I'm biased as I live in the capital but it shows it warts and all, where he grew up I can only read about, not like the side of the city I was raised in.
It's a honest movie about someone trying to escape reality by living upto his past and it shows how the addition of a good woman and kids of your own can change everything in your world.
Scary fact is he is not alone and lots of kid still live like this in the capital, hoping for more than life has dealt them
