The Fall Guy (2024)
What's with all the good reviews?
I am a fan of both Ryan and Emily Blunt, and could not possibly be more disappointed. It's not their fault though, IT'S THE DIALOGUE!! They just wouldn't stop talking, it was soo distracting; bad joke after bad joke (some landed, but most fell flat). There were like 3 laughs in my cinema. The script writers made the most convoluted mess imaginable. The pacing was terrible, and because of the bad dialogue, there were so many important moments that went unnoticed because they tried to fit in one more joke (ugghh...so this just happened...TYPE OF JOKE). This whole thing was like a long SNL version of a WAWA comercial!
I am just appalled at all the good reviews to be honest. Most "reviewers" here are either bots or NPCs; if you lot are real, then you deserve these mediocre types of movies being released - i want no part in this.
South Park: The Worldwide Privacy Tour (2023)
Hilariously Accurate!
Great episode! Provides some good laughs (Butters' fight scene killed me)! They really didn't have to do much parody on the subject of the "Canadian" royal family since most of what's shown is exactly what Harry and Meghan are doing. Harry being pressured into this persona by Meghan also rings true since he always seems out of place and unwanted in all those interviews and Netflix specials. Throughout the episode, Kyle was constantly talking about the royal Canadians that moved next door and I honestly believe that the rest of the boys found the perfect way to deal with them: IGNORE THEM!
I especially enjoyed Matt and Trey basically saying that Meghan is an empty shell of a person on the inside, not because she's "ethnic" but because of her "brand":)
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Profoundly Disappointing
I really wanted to enjoy it, but it made me want to leave after 20 minutes. I am actually appalled at the amount of good reviews online. I know the movie is supposed to be light hearted and a comedy, but it still fails in an astonishing fashion. IT IS SIMPLY NOT FUNNY. I was not the only one to think so either. It was really painful to hear the silence in the cinema after most of the supposed "jokes". The pacing was terrible as well, with most of the movie not driven by plot points but by what jokes Taika Waititi found funny; some were rehashed old jokes as well. There are good actors in this movie but their characters are stupid and too goofy for us to appreciate them. Thankfully, Anthony Hopkins' character is dead, otherwise we would have heard him tell fart jokes. The dialogue is the worst part by far, with most lines sounding like they were written by 4th graders. Bale is an amazing actor and his character was one of only good things about the movie; however, his ark was also understandably limited and a little superficial. The random cliche cgi monsters did not help the movie either.
I would have been satisfied with a simple parody-like superhero movie, however this one failed completely in almost every aspect.
PS: I think the movie should be rated somewhere around the 5/10 range but I gave it a 1/10 because of how much I disagree with the current rating.
Morbius (2022)
Empty Shell of a Movie
I saw the reviews before i went to watch the movie, and i really hoped it would the funny type of bad movie, but it was just terrible.
This movie is mediocre at best. The problem is that when you look at the budget, you realize that it could have been a decent movie if only they put the smallest of effort into the script and production, however, they did not.
Every scene feels empty and cliche beyond comprehension. The performances are pretty bad, and the main characters do not have any proper arks. The villain literally does not have any motivation; he's just being horrible only because he can, which begs the question; why did Morbius not realize that his friend is a terrible person before?
Also, Morbius kills 20 guys in the beginning and then pretends that he is still a good guy. We are supposed to be ok with it because the movie literally tell us that they were "bad guys", and we're supposed to just accept that.
The Northman (2022)
A Unique Experience
The script was rejuvenating, the performances magnificent, and the musical score fits perfectly entrancing the audience in the proper environment.
Robert Egger's attention to detail is mind-boggling especially from a historical point of view, making this probably the most authentic take on Norse culture in cinema history. A fantastic addition to the director's film record. Highly recommend the movie!
P. S: Most negative reviewers here admit that the movie is disappointing to them because it's not what they hoped for. The problem is that they expected some sort of mediocre marvel-like fairytale action-packed movie, and in my opinion, we have had enough of that by now.
