Why o why start with Kevin Hart .....
7 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
My god what a terrible way to spend your time. Could not make it through the first 30 minutes. I guess it was great for the people that were attending the thing... for all the times anyone with a mic said what a great show and what great people were hosting, roasting or just sitting on a privileged chair. But if it only serves the attendees, why even air it. It had no content, just a lot of swearing. It had no jokes, just a bunch of kindergarten blablabla. Roasts are supposed to be edgy, sharp and with some references to Tom's career or personal life. Not just a series of random insults he probably gets on Twitter (or X, whatever) every day. A missed opportunity to have a bit of fun at Tom's expense. This stuff was just trashy. And the fact that Tom stood up 25 minutes in and had to have his 'Will Smith' moment made it even worse. Two thumbs down.

Getting worse with each new episode
4 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The start of the show was great. Lots of promising turns to take. Solid base for at least a few seasons. Or so I thought. Not at all it seems. The mom slowly turns psycho. The kids - as mentioned by many reviewers already - are just too much. The grandmother is just this side character that becomes extremely annoying. The Leland character (Michael Emerson) is the same lame figure this actor plays in Lost; annoying, backstabbing and scheming but in a very boring and lame way. The black priest, great, until the race card. Ben, the most likeable character, and the only one that doesn't develop some psycho personality or the need to have multiple angles to his role. This show had promise but was ruined by some lazy writing and the need to 'intrigue' with useless twists and turns. Episodes one and two were great to watch. By the end of S1 I can hardly finish an episode.

Insanely boring, unless you're heavily into coaching ...
5 February 2024
I'm not sure where all the high ratings come from, but unless you like people that talk about themselves as if they are the greatest gifts to this planet, there's really nothing to see. The movie shows some of the great entrepreneurs, but all the other people featured in this piece are either coaches or motivational speakers. And as we all know, these are a dime a dozen. Anyone who can't do in businesses, coaches (I admit there are some exceptions but those are rare). I was hoping to gain some insight into what makes certain ideas or values stand out, but all it tells you is 'to believe in yourself'. I would assume you're not starting a business any day soon if you don't either believe in yourself or at least believe in your business (idea). And honestly, the speakers (coaches) in this film are just crazy in love with themselves, to a point where I think they measure success by how long they can listen to themselves and believe that other people see the same 'magic'. So if you're looking for some inspiration, try and find it elsewhere.

It should have been called 'the ungrateful grace'
25 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe I'm missing something seeing all the great reviews, but this was not a great MI movie at all. Plenty of action indeed, and an intriguing beginning with the submarine and the thing stolen from the movie Sphere ... but then is all unravels pretty fast. First they have a scene where all the big guys sit in a room and explain what the movie is a bout, then enter Grace, a pickpocket hired (or not) by the sphere to retrieve 'the' key (lost in the first place due to the sphere playing with torpedos). The key is then pretty much the rest of the story with Grace 'stealing' it over and over and Ethan trying to save her from all the others trying to obtain the key. Even confronted with the fact that this key might be dangerous if it falls in the wrong hands, and knowing Ethan saved her on multiple occasions, Grace continuously decides to run away with the key, leaving Ethan behind to kick some (and save his own) ass. This repeats too many times. Then .... on top of that we have the all-seeing sentient AI being (I guess we're referring to every day life with cameras and the current versions of AI becoming more and more advanced wink wink) trying to manipulate the 'truth'. There's just so much being done to make this story into a mission impossible, but to be honest if they would have removed some of the holes in the story the mission would be very much possible within a period of less than 30 minutes. If there are more to follow, maybe it's time to go back to the good old setting with one hero, a few pretty ladies, one supervillain and some tech-just-because. Bond movies do this very well, sticking to a proven concept that Bond fans like. But hey if you're looking for an action movie in the style of Statham - a guy running around kicking people with very little storyline - this is your movie. Hope they clean up before releasing part 2.

So incredibly overrated
22 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Find some currently unemployed actors, throw in some planet rescue missions and call it a show? No thanks. There are as many plot holes in this series as there are holes in the ship the mandalorian is flying around in SPACE! It is more of an interplanetary hunt for clues than a show about Joda or the Jedi or anything else Star Wars. Just sad. Well, back to the chicken brothers it is I guess.

What's not to like about this movie?
7 January 2021
It's probably the best movie EVER for Hugh Grant. He's funny, ad rem and develops his character as a likeable yet annoying and condescending nosy neighbour. Great performance! Then comes Colin Farrell - just superb. Dry and witty. And adds so much character to the movie. And Matthew and Charlie to tie it all together. What a great cast for this movie that is a must watch.

It reminded me of the atmosphere in Lock Stock and Two sb and I had to think for a minute, but to be honest, I'm liking this one more now. It has replaced LS&2SB in my list of classics, as I'm sure this one will become one to remember and rewatch.

No idea why I'm still inclined to give this three stars
7 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I want my 83 minutes back. The start is - to say the least - confusing. Planes in the mist. Chloe's character (can't even bother to remember the name) wandering around with a box. And when she finally boards a plane, you get a glimpse of what could be a spy on a secret mission.

Then weirdness all over. She is being told to go sit in the lower turret, leaving her secret mission box behind as she can not possible take it in the small turret. She does complain a bit about leaving her secret mission box behind and keeps reminding everyone not to open the box. Great story line so far.

A lot of chatting about nothing, then a gremlin shows up and finally someone opens the box that seems to contain a baby - a result of Chloe's character running away from a violent husband and a guy that happens to be on the same plane she boarded in the very misty airport ...

Could have taken the baby story or the gremlin story, but not both.

Not sure whether the gremlin shows up to steal the baby (as it appears to be doing at the end of the movie), but well, as if running away with a baby on a random plane from a very misty airport is not the worst idea, fighting a gremlin in mid air, doing wall-climbing exercises on the bottom of the plane whilst getting shot at and eventually throwing random objects at a man-sized bat just makes it into one horrible episode of SNL where they try to make fun of Gremlins, Airplane, Con-Air and Broken all at once.

On your mark, set, terrible. No idea what the title of the movie is all about as there is no shadow whatsoever. Better title would have been 'Lost - the others'.

The sandwich show
29 October 2020
Like many have written, it's indeed just a vanity project. Sad, because after a great movie, I was expecting a great show about food. But no, it's a mediocre show about Jon Favreau, where 8 out of 10 times the main dish is a grilled sandwich ... Three episodes would have been sufficient imo but then again, I'm not in charge of what Netflix is putting on the air. Could have been great, turned out disappointing.

Rings (2017)

Horrorible
23 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start by saying that the guy that plays a professor in the big bang theory also plays a professor in this movie. Typecasting lol. And it's not good. Although I was waiting for him to die in the movie, I need to say that even his death is not horror-worthy. The whole movie is basically a chain of people watching the ring video and then trying to find someone to watch it for them with the occasional scare effect of the girl stepping out of some screen. Not pleasant and with bad acting. I don't know why they keep making more versions of the same original 'ring movie' but someone has to tell producers to stop funding these. The original US remake of the ring had one good thing, a cute main actress. That's not even available in this version. The main role in this movie is carried by a girl that is a combination of the nice girl next door, Lara croft, someone with bad judgment when it comes to crawling in small spaces and desperately seeking my boyfriend although when I find him I don't even want to know where he has been during the six days he went missing ... bad bad bad. A big thumbs down. Still 3 for the effort of putting it all together around this weird story of a priest. Maybe if the movie had started with some parts of the priest story and then gradually moved towards explaining his motives, it would have been a 5, but it feels like two different stories told in sequence accidentally linked by the scary screen-exiting girl.

horrible
24 October 2016
Being a fan of james franco, animation and saying f**k, this movie is just one big disappointment. The gods and the great beyond can go f**k themselves. This doesn't deserve to be in theaters at all. It's just a combination of childish gibberish and swearing. Not worth wasting your time on. I have no idea what they were thinking doing the voice-overs for this piece of junk but once they saw the final product, they should have decided to just send it straight to download for free. There is no story, the characters are shallow and the one guy doing drugs and talking to his groceries is probably based on an episode the producers had whilst doing drugs writing this horrible piece of comedy. Sad sad sad.
