Matlock: The Suspect (1991)
Season 6, Episode 8

2 part Matlock
9 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was a very different 2 part Matlock story, both intertwined, a judge puts him as lawyer to a plumber arrested for murder and shorty after that a woman arrested for her husband's death begs him to take her case, and he does and figures out who killed her husband and gets her off.

2nd part, the plumber is not a really likeable guy but they work his case and figure out who might be involved, his client from the first murder, this involves legal issues because of attorney client privilege, but even though she was innocent in her husband's death, she wasn't in this one and actually planted the murder weapon in plumbers Van. Had she not planted the murder weapon on him or anyone else, she might have gotten away with it.

Probably the cutest show Alfred Hitchcock did
25 February 2021
This was not the usual Alfred Hitchcock show story, it was different and unusual but interesting, especially the ending. This was aired in May 1957, so likely filmed in late 1956 obviously several years before Robert Culp had his teeth fixed. Hugh Marlow is very good as the Minister and Rebecca Wells as his wife and parents of precocious Hildegard. By the way, Robert Culp does a very good job in his part also

The saulky girl
13 October 2020
This is actually a pretty good story, the 1957 shows seem to be figuring out the interaction between the characters in the show, by the winter of 1958 they seem to have this all together. The story's from from the start to the early 60s seem to be best, somewhere in the mid 60s they stopped using a novel for a story, and started using ideas from several and putting them together plus the last couple years, I read the director who was in charge didn't do great job, and it shows Watch this one closely, the story moves along well.

Everyone would like to shake some sense into this defendant
8 October 2020
Most of the 57- 61 Perry Mason's are really the best, good writing etc. In this the defendant is so worried about her daughter's reputation she implicated herself As the murderer. The actress was also Mrs Wilson in Dennis the menace, but she does this part so neurotically , it upsets the viewers. It's not one of the best but it's a decent story and the Court process is interesting Perry and Della drive a beautiful black 57 Cadillac Convertible in this. I read in Perry Mason trivia that when he drove a Cadillac, GM was one of the sponsors that night

Unusually good for the last season show
10 September 2020
This plot is well done, better than most of the 1965-66 season show's, this one keeps you guessing, you don't want to leave the room for long because you might miss something important. Actress Jeanie Cooper drives a beautiful 65 Riviera and gets out in heels and a mini coat. This really is one of the best ones from this time frame, writing and director was not great during this period, the best shows are from the years 1958-1963

A bit different murder in this case
31 August 2020
A bit creepy when you think about it, Ben is not feeling good staying in a hotel across from a home and was looking out the window when he viewed what he thought was a fight between a man and woman, except he sees her husband come home and a shadowy figure goes out a back door just before the man walks in the house. Without giving away who did this, the murderer was not mad at her , but killed her because he was trying to get back at someone who blamed for a accidental death several years before. This one , since Ben is a witness, his daughter defends the husband who is charged with the crime, it all comes together in court at the end

One of the best episodes
26 July 2020
This is really a good story, kept you interested. A lot of these early Perry Masons were taken directly from the novels, towards the end 65-66 they were writing the stories sometimes using several books, obviously the writers changed and some have written that a later director was not the best. This was during the shows prime. Good story , great writers and everyone does a great acting job. I think this is the only Perry Mason that his client does the first part of the episode without a shirt on. I can recommend, if you are a Perry Mason fan, you need to make sure you see this story

Some of the last few years if Perry Mason, were just ok, this one was pretty good, different than other Perry Masons. Anthony Eisley played the heel very well and Ed Nelson and Julie Adams did a good job. This is a very 1964 television show, enjoyed the outdoor scenes, and Julie Adams actually had a scarf over her head riding in the back seat of Perry's Lincoln Continental Convertible

Not the worst Perry Mason
12 July 2020
People saying it's awful, have forgotten 1964, it's no more over the top than other storys on TV of the day, like Burke's law etc. Also always gotta kick out of Jeanette Nolan in a blond wig and cocktail party clothes on, a departure for sure. The young maid is really from Europe, Belgium to be exact. Neil Hamilton does a great job as the over the top Butler , Guy Stockwell did a good job, so did Dianne Foster and John Larkin. Perry is driving a very nice Lincoln Continental Convertible, that the maid steals. Not one of the best, but also not one of the worst. It's very 1964, I was a kid then but did watch evening TV .

Well done, but not a good Perry Mason
28 June 2020
Honestly I think Erle Stanley Gardener ashes are a flutter on Baja were he was spread, this is not what he wanted for Perry Mason, he was actively involved in the 50s Perry Mason Show, He was very concerned how he was presented, and wouldn't want him turned into a sleazy investigator, which this has done . Yes this is a well done show, but I don't think the writer would appreciate this at all

It's a different Perry Mason
15 May 2020
I never could get through this story before. I think Patrica Berry played this lying character so well, I had trouble getting through it, but just was on METV and saw it to the end, and this story needs to be seen from the beginning. It's unlike any other Perry Mason story. The acting in this is all very good

Answer to, just who really are the stars here
14 May 2020
Actually in the 50s Ford was a sponsor, he usually drove dark Ford convertibles, but once in a while he would be in black Cadillac Convertibles. I found out that the sponsor was not always Ford, and when GM was a sponsor he was in a Cadillac. In fall of 60 he started driving the new Lincoln Continental Convertible that had just came out. But by 65-66 he was in Cadillacs again. Also all through most of the 60s when he was in Continentals, and Ford was a sponsor, someone important to the story was usually driving a Buick Electra or Wildcat . Sometimes in the last year of the show, the police were driving AMC cars.

One of the better Perry Mason episode

Great cast, good acting and interesting story. Worth watching. Kenneth MacDonald was the judge again, he had a great voice for the part of a judge, which is likely why they used him a lot

not one of the better Perry Masons,
30 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
But it was OK! The guy who played the part of Perry Masons client was David McLean who also played the Marlboro Man for years, and died of Cancer.

Irene Hervey was a very elegant and attractive lady she also was in "Play Misty for me" "Joy Hodges " was a 60 year friend of Ronald Reagan, she was the one that got him to ditch the glasses, and was a frequent dinner guest at the White House.

Again not one of the better shows from the writers, its hard to feel sorry for a runaway husband and dad, and even in the very end, he wouldn't go outside to see his kids in the car with the Aunt (Irene Hervey)
