Playing with Dolls: Bloodlust (2016)
Worth watching for 1 Reason... Maybe 2 😜
The film is not bad, but the films not great. The film does have one thing going for it & that's the eye candy. Especially Elonda Seawood being the most memorable character in an otherwise by the numbers horror film that has been done to death & far better.
The kills in the movie are not great, in fact most are off screen & the ones that are on screen aren't exactly inventive. There are actually 3 films in the franchise I only saw this one with my friends & we weren't exactly impressed but we weren't bored either with Miss Seawood keeping us "entertained" for over half the film & she is actually the best actor out of the entire cast in the film & this has.at least one pretty established star.
The Boys (2019)
Most Woke Show I have EVER seen
Starting out the show seemed pretty cool, but I noticed a pattern with the episodes each one of them shows the men to be either uncaring sociopaths, single minded or idiots, while the women are portrayed as morally conflicted or a naive Mary Sue its too on the nose with its gender politics, there is no nuance to the characters. Putting it simply if its a male character, they have the depth of a puddle, with female characters they are superpowered flawless heroines with attitude got so cringe inducing I couldn't stomach the last few episodes. When did bashing a single gender become entertainment?
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
2 Out of 3 IS Bad!
With 2 great films under the John Wick banner I thought how could they screw this up? I didn't take into account that they'd go b*lls out with the style over substance trope that have derailed so many great franchises in the past Die Hard 4, Taken 3 & Matrix Revolutions (Ironically another Reeves franchise that changed the action genre only to outstay its welcome by the 3rd chapter) Parabellum suffers the same fate, this time with mindless action set piece after set piece that just tp lead to... yep another pointless action scene. In the first 2 films you could actually feel concern for the lead, but this one was just boring & the plot was thrown out the window with the script. The 1st film was great because the character was relatable due to losing a loved one & to kickstart the action his only memory of her is brutally killed (animal lovers can relate to this) so he goes out for revenge and it was GLORIOUS. The 2nd Chapter while not as good as the 1st was still a fun ride & gave some backstory to the John Wick universe & an antagonist we could HATE. The 3rd had none of this it was all over the place with its story & by the closing scene I am now burnt out on this franchise. Which is a shame as John Wick was the franchise that got me back into the cinema
A Little Late with Lilly Singh (2019)
How can someone with so little talent have so MUCH success???
The simple answer is hating on men equals $$$ these days. I sat through one of her "routines" and it was all men are bed. There's no substance to her comedy nor is there charisma or humor in her delivery. She just comes across as a bitter, unfunny person who hates men for being more successful & talented than she obviously is. For the life of me I don't understand what possessed NBC to hire such a hateful petty person. Here's to her show being cancelled so she can crawl back under her rock.
***Question*** Is it a spoiler to say the show sucks?
Supernatural (2005)
An HONEST Opinion Of A Once Great Shows Fall
I have seen far too many 10/10 reviews for this show, which is really sad considering once upon a time it was a 10 out of 10 show. But its been a decade since those days. I consider myself a true fan of the show, someone who was there since the beginning, all the way back in 2005, I truly loved this show & the family dynamic woven thoughout the early seasons with a compelling over arching story & characters who weren't at this time parodies of themselves,
The show unarguably peaked in season 5 with the finale Swan Song, being a fitting send off for the characters we have spent 5 years with. Then season 6 came along, Admittedly I still watched & partially enjoyed season 6 but found myself thinking, How do you top throwing down with the Devil himself? That was easy you don't. That was one of the major problems with the show, You can't get a bigger big bad then Lucifer. One of the problems, more on that later.
The other major problems is mortality of the characters (Or immortality I should say) There is no feeling or need to worry about the characters safety or death, as ALL of the central cast have died & came back so many times its been played out so many times that "death" the biggest threat for any shows character is now a minor inconvenience rather than a fate. Back in the days of season 2 I remember how shocked & upset I was when Sam was mortally wounded in the penultimate episode of season 2, Season 3 should have been a sign when Dean was killed repeatedly in a throw away but hilarious episode Mystery Spot. Cut to Season 7 because I don't want to carry on with this rant I know the main characters have died & come back throughout those seasons, but another major character supposedly dies & this seemed legit. Shocking? Yes! Sad? A little! Should I have been? No because he came back (As a ghost that same damned season)
That is one of the biggest problems with the show when death is used as a plot device rather than a threat it takes away from the characters, when they're in peril its just a set back to be killed on this show when you got an angel in your back pocket.
Enough about that lets start on the biggest problem with the show. Toxic fans! You know who I am talking about? You're typical basement dweller who spends their time on message boards & forums whining about who their "favourite" character should be with, I saw a comic-con awhile back on YouTube where Jenson Ackles is visibly angry with these parasites & shook my head thinking. Your why I don't bother this show anymore. I legit despise these kind of fans as they have played a major part in ruining this shows credibility too, with their entitlement, Back in the day a fan watches a show & either enjoys it or doesn't with Supernatural they can b#tch & moan until they get their way. like a child stomping their feet, this behavior is rewarded with Supernatural for years now as fans have basically become glorified writers for the show with their slash fic fantasies played out on the small screen.
I haven't bothered with the show for a few years now as I have stated above but I did witness them bringing back old villains most notably Lucifer as they retread old ground, I do have a friend who still watches the show while even she admits its quality has diminished she still insists I give it another shot.
I very nearly did until she told me who the big bad was the final season. God himself. I nearly fell down laughing, asking Chuck??? A hack writer is the "big bad"? I rolled my eyes when I came across some fan going crazy about how amazing & foreshadowed Chuck being evil was. No it was not. it wasn't even remotely hinted at. Its just a desperate move by writers who have written themselves into a corner so they insist "Oh this guy's the biggest threat evers" Sigh this is exhausting & sad at the same time as I said this show was once great & ended fittingly in season 5. It was almost the perfect finale & one of the best I personally had ever seen. Now if I was to watch this season i can say without the shadow of a doubt it WILL NOT have the same impact as it did 10 years ago. Diminishing returns play a part in finales too look at Lost for example. The finale won't end with a bang, nor a whimper. It'll be a fart on the breeze & that is truly sad.
American Dad! (2005)
Greatest Animated Show Of All Time!
This show is fantastically funny, inventive & leagues ahead of Family Guy with its once great characters, becoming nothing more but hateful, mean spirited parodies of themselves. That's how American Dad has it beat, With more likable varied characters & 1 in character in particular stands out as the best animated character ever & of course its got Roger the hilarious alien member of the Smith family with dozens of classic personas over the shows 16 year run building up to possibly one of the greatest episodes of the shows run The 200 where you actually get see just how many personas Roger has had over the years. It blows my mind how the show stays so fresh when its ,"Father" show Family Guy (That's not a joke I've heard them call it that) has gotten weaker both in writing & overall quality season by season, Yet American Dad is unfairly compared to its predecessor.
I stopped watching Family Guy way back when that whole Brian fake out death thing happened. Sorry about the rant but Family Guy is just awful now. American Dad goes from strength to strength with each passing season in my opinion & will hopefully run for many more years to come.
I'd have given the rating 9 ½ stars based on one episode American Fung a blemish on the shows 278 episodes. It really is that bad, not remotely funny & actually is worse than even the weakest Family Guy episode I would imagine.
But there's still 277 episodes to enjoy & with Season 17 been picked up by TBS we'll get more classic episodes & more Roger in the years ahead.
