Take Me Out (I) (2010–2019)

Likey

This has the best writing for any show ever. The one liners and gags are brilliant and completely make sense. This is comedy at it's smartest. Paddy mcguiness delivers his all time best performance and adds so much weight to the show. He is hilarious however I think he gets jealous whenever anyone else has a funny moment because he always tries to steal their joke.

This is quality entertainment especially because paddy mcguiness is really fit, ummmm, I mean the girls are really fit. The directing is fantastic and the flashy cinematography adds to the theme of vanity and provides a nice juxtaposition to the realistic, improvisational dialogue. It's also fun working out who you like and don't like on the show.

This is the funniest show on TV, thanks to brilliant writing and one Oscar-worthy performance

Better than people say

I loved this film. A lot of people don't like this film because the plot is very confusing and hard to follow but the whole message of the film is that sometimes life doesn't wrap things up in a nice little bow and sometimes everything doesn't come together in the end. I've seen this film a few times now and I like it more everytime I see it. The first time I didn't really like it because I was trying to keep up and get my head around the plot but after I became enlightened to the theme, then I was just able to sit back and experience the journey. It is a great character study. Joaquín pheonix is fantastic and his character is great, all the characters and performances in this film are great and fun, Josh Brolin works really well and had great chemistry with Pheonix, and Martin Short was hilarious when he came into the film he was amazing. There were so many great moments and great lines scattered about like when he visits the golden fang institute. The dialogue on the whole is inconsistent as a lot of it is exposition for the plot but when it isn't that it was fantastic. This is one of the most enjoyable films because you don't need to worry about understanding the plot because you're not supposed to understand it and instead just sit back and relax. The directing is great as always from PTA, the film is really well made. My only criticisms are the film gets weaker in the last 20 mins or so and probably should've ended earlier and that some of the dialogue is just exposition. However I love this film on the whole, I love the soundtrack and the unsatisfying ending reflects the whole film, it reflects the character and how really he gets nothing done in the whole film. And it also reflects life, and how in life often things don't have satisfying endings.

Ignoring the obvious

Warning: Spoilers
Everyone loves this film. I can see why, the first time I watched it I thought I loved it, but everytime I watch it, it gets significantly worse. Ok, the twist is stupid, spoilers they are the same person but that doesn't make sense because in the rest of the film they have conversations in public with people around them but it's just one guy talking to himself . I would understand it if people looked strangely at them as it would show something was up but they don't it's just lazy, not much smart is done to set up the twist yeah they do that whole thing that Tyler durden says to not talk to Marla about him but that's it the twist just happens and makes no sense, then he shoots himself in the cheek which kills Tyler. COME ON! That makes no sense why couldn't he just die. Ok I quite like the message but it is made redundant when the film has whorish product placement that just undermines the whole message. I don't like the fact that the film starts with the most interesting part, I find that a bit lazy. Helena Bonham Carter horribly overacts. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are fine nothing special and David Fincher does a good job directing, i like the tone and colour palette. I think the film looks nice. However the more I think about all the dumb shit and the dull monologue it just gets worse and worse

Simply sensational
15 March 2018
I was blown away. This is the best looking film I have ever seen, the visual effects are spectacular! It takes everything the first film does well and massively improves them, like the world-building and the symbolism and the special effects. The cinematography is breathtaking and the directing is a masterclass, much credit goes to Roger Deakins and Denis Villenueve. Ryan Gosling doesn't have a character arc so much as a character circle which is refreshing and presents a nice message. All the performances are good, nothing great, they all work really well for the roles. There's lots of imagery, I noticed a lot of eye imagery which has connections to the soul. The sound design and score were really nice. My only problems with the film are that some scenes last too long like the scene where Ryan Gosling is exploring where Harrison Ford is, the film as a whole I felt was paced well and didn't feel it's length but some scenes dragged. Also some of the audio was a bit echoey and hard to hear. Maybe that was to reflect the emptiness of the characters but I don't know for sure. On the whole a fantastic experience, more films like this should be made

Humans are idiots
16 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen many reviews from idiots that read something similar to '' nothing comes at night'' and that makes me ashamed to be human. When horror films don't have cheap jump scares they are immediately found to be boring and therefore bad. Hell. I even saw one review that complained about nobody getting eaten by a monster. I admit the marketing for this film was misleading but it's really a sad thing that nobody will watch a fantastic film unless they are tricked into watching it. Anyway on with the review. This film was fantastic it made me feel genuinely frightened and nauseated with the way tension is built using the superb lighting and uneasy camera movement, the score also adds to the tension. The main theme of the film is paranoia, therefore many questions aren't answered. A lot of people have complained about this but they fail to see that leaving the questions unanswered helps us associate with the sense of paranoia the characters are experiencing. The performances were inconsistent sometimes good sometimes not. My favourite actor was the teenage kid he really had a breakout performance and I'm looking forward to seeing him in other things in the future. Everyone else was fine, nothing special. They use a lot of dream sequences to get scares which I think is a bit lazy and at one point in the film the aspect ratio changes weirdly. However those are my only problems. One really admirable scene in particular is this POV shot closing in on the red door, I loved the sense of dread and the sense to can't escape. Really well made horror scene. On the whole I loved this slow paced but enjoyable film and can't wait for this directors next work, watch it.
