Power (2014)
Disappointed, Ugh!
I am so, so, so, so disappointed in Season 3 of "Power". For the first two seasons despite the nudity I watched the show because I was interested in the plot, yes, the plot. Yes, I understand drugs and violence are interconnected so of course I expected to see violence. Got it. I understand that people have sex, yep, got that too. What I don't understand is why season 3 is explicitly wrapped around sex c-o-n-s-t-a-n-t-l-y.
In seasons 1 & 2 I was watching a show about a man who wanted to desperately break away from a lifestyle that he knows will ultimately destroy him and his family, but constantly having to fight an uphill battle, in part due to decisions he has made and in part due to consequences of living in the lifestyle; a story about his family, his friends, his enemies. I get it, sex is interjected because guess what...people do it. Got that. And, Omari Hardwick is so easy on the eyes!
Let me guess, "people" kept talking about how great the sex scenes were in Seasons 1 & 2; so, somebody got that bright idea, "Flood them with sex!" In Season 3 I feel like I'm watching porn and that is the story line and each episode is getting worse and worse.
Well then again in understanding that you have to know your audience I can only assume that the writers and/or producers must think their audience is the less mature. Perhaps some teenagers who are starting to go through puberty and have a pension for sex.
The last episode I watched I almost changed the channel because I was so sick of the sex scenes interjected what seemed liked every ten to fifteen minutes. Give me a break. It all strikes me as very immature. Hey I'm trying to watch a movie here, you can keep the hardcore porn to yourself.
Are your ratings so low that you have to now use sex as a crutch to prop up the show because that's how it comes off. And no, I don't have to watch it, yeah, I can change the channel, but is that really what you want from your audience.
I square if I see the next episode and the first thing that hits me in the face is somebody's butt, it will be the last time I watch the show. You know what, maybe that's a good thing. I'll have to get my fix for watching Omari and Joseph on another show!
Yes, just my opinion. What makes it sad for me is that I was looking forward to this Season; I really enjoy the cast.
