Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

Good but definitely not what I expected.

I want to start off by saying that all of the actors chosen for their roles in this movie did an absolutely phenomenal job.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I did actually genuinely enjoy the movie itself. The twist was good, the story itself was also very good, and the different universes were very well conceived. Definitely worth a watch.

I absolutely loved the scene at the wedding with the interaction between Strange and Christine

Spoilers: There was a couple things that I had a few issues with about this movie. The main one being the excessive use of exposition. It feels like they're constantly explaining things, to the point where it's getting boring. Now I don't mind having things explained to me every once in awhile. That being said when it's almost constant it gets a bit annoying.

The other I wouldn't necessarily say issue but definitely threw me off a bit was the excessive gore and violence.

Now we've had a decent amount of violence in the MCU. Stabbing, beheadings, things like that. But they were typically filmed or played off in a way that wasn't very gruesome or gory. This on the other hand didn't pull any punches. I mean let's not act like we didn't see two people's heads implode with lots of blood and brains everywhere. And then we see Captain Carter get cut in half with the shield dripping guts and blood. And the giant tentacle monster getting its eye plucked out of its head was definitely a little bit off putting.

Now that being said if this was in an r-rated movie and something like let's say Deadpool or suicide squad then it would surprise me less. But this is a PG-13 movie so I definitely wasn't expecting it. For the most part the MCU in its entirety has felt like you could have your 13-year-old in the theater with you without fearing anything that would cause trauma or psychological impact. This is definitely a movie I would not be comfortable showing to a young teenager.

That being said I still genuinely enjoyed the movie and some of the character exploring we got to do.

I've seen a lot of game shows before. And pretty much everyone already knows that a certain degree of it is rigged and not actually up to chance. But they do a pretty good job of concealing it and playing it off as actual risk and chance.

But sweet mother of God, I have never seen worse acting, and a faker and more disingenuine show in my entire life. Everything about this is rigged. From the people who they choose "randomly" in the audience. To the way that they answer the questions is obvious that they're reading from a script. And then we get to the questions. Now I'm not an avid Harry Potter fan. I like the movies and I've seen them all. But even I could answer those questions within about 2 seconds of them asking them.

RocketMan (1997)

So bad it's actually kind of good.

I remember watching this movie in the early 2000s and as a kid finding it absolutely hilarious. I recently rewatched it and the thing about this movie that I realized is that you can't take it seriously at all. I would treat this movie the same way that I treated watching The Three Stooges. If you feel the need to try and pick it apart then this isn't the kind of movie for you. It's meant for slapstick humor and dumb jokes and bits.

Is this a compelling movie? Absolutely not.

Is it still funny and entertaining? Absolutely.

I've seen a lot of Bright Sun Films documentaries on YouTube and this feels like one of those videos dialed up to 11. Lots of great information and statistics. For a first attempt at a full length documentary this is fantastic. Can't wait too see him improve in form.

The contestants are obviously handpicked. The questions are hilariously easy. And the obvious questions they seem to want to debate over them. It's very obviously scripted. And is honestly really insulting to people who do like the movies. I honestly could barely get through the first episode before just having to turn it off because of how cringy it is.
