Road to Hope (2016)
Excellent documentary
This is an outstanding story of the plight of children in Africa that are impacted by the death of a parent or both of their parents. It is powerful and provides a unique perspective. The rural and city landscapes shown in the film have a crisp quality. There are good color contrasts that bring out the rich hues of the African landscape. Overall production quality is superior, and this helps deliver the messaging of the film. It appears that few if any special effects were utilized to enhance the story. The stories of children and their families flow throughout the factual messages that are presented. It is a documentary about a topic that is not widely discussed, and this film brings to light the importance of the work of the Palliative Care Association of Uganda and Center for Hospice Care, its partner in the United States.
Okuyamba (2012)
An Enlightening Story
Okuyamba's message is conveyed by featuring real people in a number of challenging situations. Like any good documentary, it allows its message to be delivered through the words of real people in challenging situations. Viewers are transported to Uganda and then they face challenges experienced by those with life limiting illness. This experience is brought to life thanks to the production quality and shots of the group making way by traveling slowly along remote roads. Challenges in Africa's health care delivery systems are evident, and this film offers viewers hope that increasing awareness is driving the creation of additional and new options for the people of Uganda. The film also increases the awareness of supporting the expansion of programs in Africa designed to improve end of life care. This documentary film is powerful and worth viewing.
