Darr (1993)
awesomeee
This movie would always be one of my favourites from the legend himself, Yash Chopra. He always leaves a landmark on his films which explains the legend himself. Darr is one of those landmarks in which deals with the concept of stalking and obsession. Here is the plot.
Sunil (Sunny Deol) and Kiran (Juhi Chawla) fell in love with each other and decide to get married after Kiran's education. However, Kiran has a stalker named Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) who is not only in love with Kiran but constantly follows her around, harrassing her via phone calls and disguises and would do anything to win Kiran over.
Won't really spoil much because the story is just so good it is brilliantly displayed. Kudos to the story and screenplay writer for creating this story. Yash Chopra, as previously mentioned before, really outdid himself with a more realistic version of how love works in the real world. You start to sympathise with the characters and really understand how they go through.
Onto the performances. Sunny deol as the typical hero is average as his role was not all that great. I guess the popularity of Sunny doing leading roles seem to fade away. At least in this movie, you don't get to hear him shouting and screaming, but more of the sentimental side. Anupam Kher was hilarious as the cricket fan and his chemistry with Tanvi Azmi is really fun to watch. Juhi Chawla as Kiran was great in her performance, however like Sunny, her popularity of doing leading roles faded. However her chemistry with Sunny is great.
This movie belongs to Shahrukh Khan. The King himself in a role in which resides in most of us really outdid himself in a brilliant performance. his stammering, his expressions and his psychological display of being obsessed really shows us why he is the King Khan.
The music was great also. All songs were amazing with Tu mere samne and Jaadu Teri Nazar being the pick of the lot.
Overall, great performances but watch the movie for the King Khan
Company (2002)
really awesome
this was a really great movie as it showed a lot of realism in gang violence. so heres how the plot goes
Chandrakant "Chandu" (Vivek Oberoi) seeks with Malik (Ajay Devgan) to join his gang along with his girlfriend Saroja (Manisha Koirala). But here comes IPS officer Veerapali (Mohann Lal) to cause a rift between Malik and Chandu as Chandu got married to Kannu (Antara Mali) and the two get in a cold war with each other.
Now the movie and everything was just perfect, however its downfall was its music as it wasn't that entertaining. The film would've worked without the music.
Performance wise. Ajay Devgan really leads the cast with his performance as well as Mohan Lal. Manisha and Antara are perfect in their roles. It was time that Rajpal Yadav does something serious other than comedy and he was good. However, Vivek Oberoi steals the show with his debut performance as a rookie gangster. He was really impressive and really kept the movie going.
If you love crime-related movies and violence, this one cannot dissappoint you.
Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994)
srk's best movie
You'll hear it once and obviously you know why this is not just mine but Shahrukh khan's favourite movie (no it's not because he's in it, even though he makes it look good) and here is why.
Sunil (Shahrukh Khan) is a musician yet a failure at life as he never passes his grades and usually lies. His father labels him as good for nothing. Among Sunil's friends-cum-band members Chris (Deepak Tijori), Imran (Ashutosh Gowariker), Tony (Aditya Lakhia) and Yezdi (Kurush Deboo), Sunil is in love with Anna (Suchitra Krishnamurthy) for a very long time and always dream to tell his feelings towards her and marry her. However, Anna is in love with Chris as Chris is in love with Anna. Whenever the two get closer, Sunil is in despair and causes tensions between them just so they can separate. He also seeks help from Father Braganza (Naseeruddin Shah), Anthony (Goga Kapoor), Patel (Tiku Talsania) and his sister. However, sometimes it leads to him depression of envy as he wishes he could be like Chris (being wealthy and rich)
May be a typical story however what makes it so interesting is Sunil. He's not wealthy, doesn't possess much money, never passes his grades, his passion for music and his love for Anna. You relate a lot of people like Sunil as you come across life. I relate myself with Sunil as well as most people. This is not your average "boy-conquers-the- world", chivalrousness related, and your typical "falling in love and getting married in the end" type of movie. This movie explains a lot of realism and true concepts of people as it is still known nowadays. Hats off to Kundan Shah for bringing real life of people in a movie so excellently directed.
Direction by Kundan Shah is just excellent as well as the story and screenplay. However let's not forget the performances.
Deepak Tijori is likable as Chris as he portrays his character excellently. Suchitra Krishnamurty is beautiful as Anna and really shows her performance brilliant. Naseeruddin Shah is great! The rest of the cast is simply amazing including Ashutosh Gowariker.
But this movie belongs to Shahrukh Khan. Who else could perform Sunil than the King Khan himself? His physique, his expressions and dialogues really brought the realism in the movie.
Music is just amazing as well! Ae Kaash and Deewana are the best songs in my opinion. The rest are worth listening too.
Overall, best SRK movie and do not miss it!
Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999)
not bad
Sooraj Barjatya is well-known for directing family dramas with blends of comedy and romance. His films were considered legends because apart from all the films containing violence and blood, SB changed the trend of dealing with family issues which is why he directed Maine Pyar Kiya and HAHK.
Now onto Hum Saath Saath Hain. SB comes back directing family films with this one and well lets just start with the synopsis.
Ram-kishen (Alok Nath) along with Mamta (Reema Lagoo) have 3 sons Vivek (Mohnish Behl), Prem (Salman Khan) and Vinod (Saif Ali Khan) and a daughter Sangeeta (Neelam Kothari) who loves not just their parents but the entire family. During the movie, Vivek marries Sadhana (Tabu), Prem gets engaged to Preeti (Sonali Bendre), and Vinod gets engaged to Sapna (Karishma Kapoor). Ramkishen appoints Vivek as Managing Director of his factory in which causes rifts and conflicts to the entire family. Mamta is taken to confidence by her friends to separate the brothers which angers Ramkishen, Sadhana overhears this and Vivek decides to go to Rampur and make Prem the managing director. Prem however is unhappy with the new decision and vows not to marry unless Vivek and Sadhana return home.
Actually there is a lot more plot holes and story twists in the film which is more to explain in which cannot be explained more. Barjatya keeps adding more twists in the film which are great but not able to draw away from the flaws of the film.
Now onto the performances. Alok Nath and Reema are okay as the parents. out of the female leads in the film, Karishma kapoor overshadows them with her experience of comedy. Salman khan is okay. Saif Ali Khan impresses with his flair of comedy as his chemistry with Kapoor is the best part of the movie. However, the scene-stealer of the film is Mohnish Behl as he delivers one of his best yet restraining performances. Rest of the cast were great especially seeing Shakti Kapoor back with his comedic talent.
Music was okay. "Mhare Hidhwa" is the best song of the film.
This movie is flawed because of the screenplay and dialogues. The lead actors barely even say anything. Why would they? There are too many actors in the film. Take some members out and the movie would be much better
HSSH would be a better film without too many actors and more dialogues for the leads. Overall if you're looking for a movie without violence, sex, gore, blood and guns, then this movie is perfect for you.
Mohra (1994)
One of Rajiv Rai's best creations
Rajiv Rai is best known to be directing action thrillers with story lines that makes perfect sense. Out of all the mindless action thrillers even today, Rajiv Rai is who i consider the best directors among all. Though i wish he could make more and replace Rohit Shetty. Anyways from the guy that made Tridev (1989) and Vishwatma (1992) he made one of his other best creation, Mohra (1994)
Mohra is an action thriller that deals with the issues of police and drug enforcement and what better explanation than with Rajiv Rai's Mohra.
The story starts with Vishal Agnihotri (Sunil Shetty) saving Roma Singh (Raveena Tandon) in a prison after a bunch of prisoners attempted to rape her. Roma then sympathizes Vishal and helps him get released after serving a sentence of murdering 4 college boys after they brutally raped his sister-in-law and murdering his wife. After he was released, he meets the man who helped him get released, Jindal (Naseeruddin Shah). Jindal enforces Vishal to be his right- hand man in order to eliminate drug tycoons Tyson (Gulshan Grover) and Jibran (Raza Murad) and their colonies. However, Vishal's mission is cross-pathed with Roma's fiancée, Inspector Amar Saxena (Akshay Kumar) and his sidekick Kashinath Sahu (Paresh Rawal) hot on his trail. Apart from their trail of nabbing Vishal, Amar is hot headed to find the murderer of his father Karan Saxena (Avtar Gill, in an appearance) and Kashinath is secretly an informer to Jibran. With many twists and turns, the story is by-far amazing thanks to Rai.
The action sequences and dialogue deliveries were terrific, and it's not one of those movies where they put random action sequences and songs just to take a break, they are put correctly and used very well.
Performances. I feel this is one of Naseeruddin Shah's best performances and got a role that would change his life because his dialogues and expression were awesome as the blind-turn-villainous Jindal. Raveena Tandon did terrific too considering this is her best film she did. Akshay Kumar as Amar gets a bit boring considering he's an inspector who punches and kicks for a living, though he did good with his action sequences. Paresh Rawal provides excellent comedy. However, this film completely belongs to Sunil Shetty as Vishal. His expressions, dialogues, and his action sequences were on the top and dominated the film. Many of you guys say he hammed a lot in the film. I personally disagree because he did better than all the cast. The rest were good.
The music of the film was awesome with "Tu Cheez Badi" and "Na Kajre" were the best songs in my opinion. The rest are worth listening too.
Overall, Mohra is one action thriller film with a terrific story to explain. I recommend this film for Rajiv's best directing and all of the performances in the film
Chennai Express (2013)
Boring and Overacting Express
As usual in a Rohit Shetty film, i was hyped to see Chennai Express mostly because of the cast and the stunts in the trailer. They even released one song (1234 get on the dance floor) as part of the hype. However, as usual in a Rohit Shetty film, the hype becomes overwhelmed with disappointment as Rohit shetty portrays performances and script writing. Chennai Express falls under that category unfortunately
Now onto the plot. The story starts with Rahul Mithaiwala (Shahrukh Khan) a sweet-seller who has to fulfill his grandfather's last wish and that is half of his ashes will be immensed in Rameswaram. Rahul then boards on the Chennai Express only to help Meena Lochini Azaghadusundaram (Deepika Padukone) the daughter of a Tamilian don, jump on the train along with 4 of her cousin-brothers. He then meets Meena's father (Sathyaraj) and her fiancée Tangabali (Nikitin Dheer) in which challenges Rahul to a fight and the winner marries Meena. Meena and Rahul manages to escape Meena's hometown and start a life on their own until tragedy happens.
Interesting story? Well not really because I've seen this all before. Hero fighting villains for girl's trust and girl not willing to do what her father tells her to do. Come on, can we see a plot that's not been taken away from previous movies. And also can you stop with the DDLJ references? DDLJ is considered a legacy in which cant be used for comedy.
This movie was really hyped for me, until i watched the movie in which in my opinion, sucked. And you guys will understand why.
1. Performances: Well the performances from the supporting cast were really just wasted. They had no reason to be in the film as it mostly revolved around SRK and Padukone. However, it was nice to see the legendary Kamini Kaushal after a long time. Now you hardly get to see her in films again as she ages. It was also nice to see Mukesh Tiwari (aka Vasooli) but he overacted as the Punjabi inspector. Sathyaraj was really dull as the don cum father because he showed no emotion. Nikitin Dheer as Tangaballi really sucked. his dubbing was horrible whoever dubbed for him in Hindi. And also we didn't see much of his action
2. Shahrukh khan. Here is one reason why i went to see the film. Mainly because it was SRK's first film with Shetty and he would've saved the film. I thought wrong. As much as i am a huge fan of SRK, he did a horrible job in the film. He completely hammed throughout the whole film. Then again i don't blame him, it's all shetty's fault for making SRK play like a child with no IQ as he does with all his heroes and cast. he showed no comedy but overact his character.
The saving grace of the film is Deepika Padukone. She saved the film with her impressive Tamilian accent and her performance. She was funnier than SRK no doubt. Her "bed scene" with SRK (No sex included) was honestly the best scene ever as facial expression really made it so hilarious. She was the reason why the film didn't flop.
The music was okay. Songs that are worth listening are Titli and Kashmir Main
Overall, boring movie with retarded characters including SRK. watch the film ONLY for Deepika Padukone.
Dilwale (2015)
Only for SRK-Kajol
I have way too many flaws with Rohit Shetty's films. First, he makes a movies with purely just stunts, some of which don't really make sense as to why it relates to his movies. Second, the characters he made them do act like retards, like put some depth in the characters and their emotions man. And the third, NO PLOT whatsoever. All stunts, music, retards-like characters, and really no good movies. They all succeed in the box-office because of the hype when really it's just like every other Rohit Shetty film. Pure Nonsense.
Just like Golmaal, Bol Bachchan, Singham and even Chennai Express, Dilwale unfortunately happens to be similar.
Now with Dilwale. The story is about Raj (Khan) who was a mafia gang leader who turned straight and became a mechanic after his confrontation with Meera (Kajol) his former beloved when she shot him in the chest. Now Raj takes care of his younger brother Veer (Varun Dhawan) and Meera takes care of her younger sister Ishita (Kirti Sanon). However, a lot of comical situations and tragic happened when Veer and Ishita fall in love together and they try to get their siblings back together as well.
Is all this new? Hell no. Because the plot was recycled from Hum (1991) and rival families going at it and children falling in love together just really made this boring. It's all too familiar. Why does Shetty even bother to make films if all he does is recycle plots and puts an all-star cast to hype it up, when really it makes no sense whatsoever. One thing for sure though, at least he makes better films than Sajid Khan.
I really don't know what to say about the actors/actresses. They ALL acted like retards and have an IQ of 0. But then again, I blame Shetty for that. He clearly does not know what to put in for the characters. He only puts them in for more and more hype. The saving grace happens to be SRK and Kajol. Although overacting was flawed (Again i blame Shetty, the creative dummy) it was nice to see SRK- Kajol on-screen together and hopefully they get to be in more movies together, just not with Shetty please.
The music was okay. The only song that stood out was "Gerua" the rest of the songs were okay.
Overall, if Rohit Shetty makes films again, can it actually have a story and can it actually make sense other than picking it out from the garbage? it was nice to see SRK-Kajol but not in a Shetty film again.
Dil Ka Rishta (2003)
Not a bad movie.
Dil Ka Rishta is really not a bad movie, but it does falter in a bit. The story-line is way too predictable. Boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl but girl is in love with another man. Then boy gets depressed and girl marries the other man until tragic happens. Yup. That sums it up in 2 hours of a movie. I like romantic movies but this one i can just pass and call it a day. Performance wise: Aishwarya Rai was good but she really needs to stop crying at everything. Arjun Rampal was okay. I honestly wished someone else can fill in for Priyanshu Chaterjee, but then again who would wanna be wasted? Paresh Rawal and Rakhee Gulzar were amazing. I wish i could see more Rakhee in newer films.
The saving grace of the movie was the music. I don't know why you guys hate the music? The music was excellent. All the songs were great. Nadeem-Shravan never disappoints with music, though i wish they could make more. Nowadays, Bollywood music sucks. I wish the old days were back. And that's why i rated the movie with 7, mostly because of the music
Deewana (1992)
How SRK became King of Bollywood
I honestly NEVER thought this film would be SRK's debut film. I thought Dil Aashna Hai would've been his debut and Deewana would be his breakthrough. But then again, DAH was supposed to be his debut film until it delayed a few months but thank God this film was SRK's first released film otherwise DAH would've sucked for him.
Ravi (Rishi Kapoor) is a very rich and popular singer who meets and falls in love with Kajal (Divya Bharti) a poor village girl who is a big fan of Ravi. They get married and Ravi's mother (Sushma Seth) gives them a grand welcome, much to the detest of his uncle Virendra Pratap Singh (Amrish Puri) and his son and Ravi's cousin Narender (Mohnish Behl). Virendra is greedy for Ravi's wealth and would do anything to get his dirty mitts on it, so he plans on killing his nephew via Narender and his plan went backfired as Ravi was thrown off a cliff while Narender was stabbed to death. Ravi's mom and Kajal flee to avoid Virendra's next attack to and here come Raja (Shahrukh khan) to come into Kajal's new life and falling in love with her. He starts stalking her, following her, writing her name on his arm and begging her mother-in-law him to marry her, who is unable to move on from her first marriage. But after the persuasion of her mother-in-law, she finally agrees and they got married. However, more problems show when Ravi makes his return and Kajal facing a dilemma on her future. Also Virendra still trying to accomplish his goal of owning the wealth.
Now let me remind you that bigamy is NEVER an issue when it comes to having more one spouse in India. But there are some questions that lead to the issue.
How long has it been since Ravi was presumed dead? and if it was short, then shouldn't the marriage continue with Ravi and Kajal? These types of questions still come in mind whenever i watch this movie. But then again, it is a Bollywood movie and sometimes questions are best not answered and enjoy the movie.
This movie is a romantic and an action film with a lot of musical dance numbers which by the way are terrific in the movie. I just don't really like the plot of the movie because it just gets confusing in the end. And the fact that it might have a sequel will clearly get more confusing than this.
Performance wise: I clearly did not understand why Mohnish Behl was in the film. Hell, why did he do villain roles like this? Be it Sabse Bada Khiladi, Aashiq Awara, and even this film. He is clearly wasted in roles like this. The only movies i liked him in was HSSH, HAHK, Baaghi and MPK. Otherwise he is wasted in the film. Amrish Puri was one of a kind in most of his movies, this example is why Puri was named "India's greatest villain" God rest his soul. Sushma Seth was okay but she can never pull a Nirupa Roy or a Raakhee in mother roles like this. Alok Nath was okay in a short role and so was Dalip Tahil. Now, the hero of the film, Rishi Kapoor. Seriously? You putted a chubby, 40-year old man (back in the day) to romance a teenage debut who hasn't even developed adulthood yet? Come on guys. And yet, his dance skills, action sequences, and dramatic scenes are literally just awful. The only thing i liked about him in the movie is his expressions and dialogue delivery. Otherwise, he needs to lose weight in a film like this. Divya Bharti was amazing on her debut. She was mesmerizing and her expressions, dance skills with fatty Kapoor, dramatic sequences and her role transition was terrific. I'm shocked she passed away at a young age though. She would've carried the legacy of Bollywood actresses like Kajol, Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi and become a successful actress. God rest her soul though. But here is one of the reasons why the movie was considered a blockbuster back in the day and the saving grace of the film, and that is the King of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan. This is how SRK became the KING of Bollywood and that is delivering one of the greatest performances and having the best debut possible. His expressions, his dialogues, and his emotions are considered the best and considered a legacy. Don't believe me? watch him carry this legacy in Baazigar, Darr, Anjaam, and the Don series. Basically, SRK saved the film onto becoming a disastrous confusion with his acting skills in play. i honestly THANK GOD Armaan Kohli was NOT in the film and SRK replaced him. His career was destroyed and him in the movie would make it the hugest flop possible. Kohli can never pull a role right. In fact, he should take some acting lessons from SRK and actually learn what it's like to be an actor.
The other reason why it's considered a blockbuster was the music. I honestly love every song and every single one of them are my favourites. It's an album you cannot miss out. Nadeem-Shravan's second third awarded soundtrack won't disappoint you. I wish they can come back and make music like this again, otherwise I miss Nadeem-Shravan and their music. They need to come back and show other music directors who's boss (of course not A.R.Rahman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy)
Overall, the plot is one aspect i do not like in the movie. Other than that, great music and watch the film for 3 of the greatest performances. Amrish Puri, Divya Bharati (God rest their souls), and above all, Shahrukh Khan!!
Ghajini (2008)
Best movie I ever saw
Short-term memory loss is a disease in the human brain that an individual can only remember incidents and/or trauma due to the attack or things that are related of the cause. And what better explaining of short-term memory loss being displayed in Ghajini by A.R. Murugadoss.
This movie deserves much more awards than Jodhaa Akbar in my opinion because history can repeat itself but not a mental disease. Ghajini is a psychological action thriller with Aamir Khan in the lead along with Jiah Khan and the debut of Asin. Pradeep Rawat is the villain while Tinnu Anand and Riyaz Khan provide supporting roles.
Audience and critics may think it's a clichéd revenge film, when the hero defeats the villain and wins the battle. But this goes WAAAAY beyond that. The idea of using a psychological disease is a terrific idea to display in the movie. After all, what better way of understanding psychological disorders than films like this.
The movie starts off in a medical centre with Sunita (Jiah Khan) a medical student who wants to study the case of Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan) the chairman of Air-Voice, a mobile phone company who later suffers short-term memory loss after a brutal attack by Ghajini (Pradeep Rawat) when he attempted to save his beloved Kalpana (Asin). Sanjay relies on his Polaroid pictures, his tattoos all over his body and notes he puts on the walls to regain his memory. The films then takes into flashbacks on Sanjay meeting Kalpana, falling in love with her, and the arrival of Ghajini who murdered Kalpana after she protested Ghajini for the rights of children. Fast-forward 2 years later and Sanjay has to use his memory techniques to find Ghajini.
This movie really brings viewers not only to be entertained but to study many psychological disease a human can suffer. When do we ever have movies that actually can TEACH viewers a lesson or two? We basically have to rely on professors and teachers to learn a lesson when we can make professors take a break and use movies to teach us like Ghajini. The story itself is a tremendous idea and for that i thank Murugadoss for planning this beautiful idea and Piyush Mishra for coming up with excellent dialogue.
Performances are top-notch and well delivered by the cast of the film. Though i feel that Tinnu Anand and Riyaz Khan are wasted in the film and have nothing to do. Asin makes her debut impressive and her acting skills are great!! Even though this is her debut film, i feel Ghajini was Asin's best film because she had a lot to do in the film and unlike her other films like Ready, Bol Bachchan and Housefull 2, she had more to deliver in Ghajini than her other films. Jiah Khan was literally the spoilsport of the film. The part when she told Ghajini about Sanjay and his intentions, it seriously got me thinking "omg are you serious right now?" But not gonna lie, she did a fantastic job at it and really made the audience feel shocked, after all it is a thriller film. And last and certainly not least, the man, the heart, the soul and basically everything of the film has to be owed to Aamir Khan. Man what a performance Khan delivered. At first, i thought he was a psychopath killer, but dude the way he changed my opinion. He made himself a living legend by delivering great performances like this. Ghajini is one example of his best-performances and acting skills. I can feel the emotions from him are similar to mine when i get mad at something or someone who i really loved. Aamir Khan, you done it again and hope to see you more on screen.
The soundtrack by A.R.Rahman is one fine example of masterpieces Rahman can check on his list. My favourite song is "Behka" with it's funky hip-hop and rock flavours elemented in the song. "Guzarrish" is another song i like and listen to a lot. Hell, all the songs in the soundtrack are just plain awesome and catchy!! I always like Rahman's music in general because he has splendid ideas to make soundtracks literally the best.
I recommend you watch this film because of Murugadoss's direction skills, A.R.Rahman's music, Asin's impressive debut, and basically Aamir Khan in the film. You won't regret after watching it.
Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)
follow your heart
At first when i saw the poster and the trailer of Dil Dhadakne Do, I picture this as a family drama like the previous hit family films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Kabhi Khushie Kabhie Gham, and Baghban but after watching the film, I was completely blown away.
The plot of the films describe a dysfunctional family consist of Kamal Mehra (Anil Kapoor) a business tycoon, his wife Neelam Mehra (Shefali Shah) who has a dissolving marriage with Kamal, similar with their daughter Ayesha Sangha née Mehra (Priyanka Chopra) who does not have affection and the capability of loving her husband Manav Sangha (Rahul Bose).Their son Kabir (Ranveer Singh) who is forced to take over in his father's company Ayka (named after his children, AYesha and KAbir) when he dreams to become a pilot and fly his plane. And their dog, Pluto (voiced by Aamir Khan). The family plan a cruise to celebrate Kamal and Neelam's 30 anniversary and they invite many friends and other family members to celebrate with them, along with their rumours and assumptions they discuss while on board. During the cruise, Kabir meets and falls in love with Farah Ali (Anushka Sharma) a Muslim dancer, Ayesha displaying her "pity" instead of love towards Manav, Manav pressurizing Ayesha to have a baby, and to make matters worse for Ayesha, her ex- boyfriend Sunny Gill (Farhan Akhtar) joins the cruise. Also Kamal and Neelam wants Lalit Sood (Parmeet Sethi) to invest 49% of Ayka because Ayka is on the verge of being bankrupt, and in order for Lalit to invest in Ayka, he wants Kabir and Noorie Sood (Ridihma Sud) to get married, even though she has a secret affair with Rana Khanna (Vikrant Massey), the son of Lalit's arch-rival, Vinod Khanna (Manoj Phawa, and no not the real Vinod Khanna, though i wish he was there)
To be honest, even though some may say that the plot is confusing and it's hard to focus on one subject than the other, think about how much pressure and stress parents inflict on their children to let their children do as what their parents force them to do and the outcomes of the effects. Children have the right to what they decide on what is right and what is wrong and they deserve to be free on what the heart wants.
Now onto the performances of the actors/actresses. I can honestly say that Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akthar really had nothing to do in the film, however they delivered great performances especially Farhan Akhtar as the returning ex-boyfriend. The supporting cast of the film were great but one part that got me confused was when Noorie and Rana had a fight in regard to their parents' enmity, then few seconds later, they made out and Kamal spies on them. When i saw that, i was like "wtf was that really necessary?". Shefali Shah as the convincing mother was alright. I honestly did not find her "eating her pain away" really emotional, however her scenes with Kamal and the children really brought out the inner mom (especially from Waqt) in her. Priyanka Chopra was terrific in the film. I always thought the film was supposed to be centred around her since she is a wife who has marriage issues and her emotions were literally spot on! Aamir Khan has the greatest narrating skills though i wish he was in the film, otherwise it would've been higher than it is.
However there are two show-stealing performances and main reasons why you should watch the film.
1. Anil Kapoor as the stressed out father. He literally showed why fathers are usually stressed out in regards to work, family issues and financial bankruptcy. Kapoor really brought the Punjabi flavour in his character and played a really convincing father. As of that i say one of the 2 best performances in the film. He deserved the Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actor for this splendid role.
2. Ranveer Singh as the troubled and spoilt son. I never really watched Singh's movies because I feel that too much kissing is involved. But after watching the movie, Singh really showed why children should not always follow directions of their parents. Even though there is a few kissing moments, Singh really brought justice in the film. He is the heart and soul of DDD and the other of the 2 best performances in the film with Kapoor.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy really established themselves as being one of the best music directors. DDD is one example of their best music. My favourite song is "Gallan Goodiyaan" with their Punjabi flavour being established in the best song in the film. I also like "Pehli Baar" with its soft-rock romantic element. Rest of the songs are okay.
Overall, i recommend you watch this film with anybody including family and friends. This will not disappoint you at all. Splendid performances and music. It'll leave you guys smiling after.
