The forms taken by the curse were so contrived and over-the-top that they undermined the charm for me. IMO, this movie would've been greatly improved if the scriptwriters had come up with more subtle ways for the curse to manifest.

I enjoyed the 2 seasons set in the UK but I can't say the same for this one -- moving 2 of the characters to SF and adding 2 Americans to the 'sleuthing quartet' didn't work anywhere near as well for me. The acting didn't impress me much, but I blame this mostly on the scripts, which have these supposedly smart women uttering some really cringe-worthy lines and regularly acting stupid and dumb. The script writers obviously had to fill out the 1.5 hour plot-lines, but it's unfortunate that they did it by having the characters blunder into precarious situations with no preparation, situations that they then have to get out of.
