Guntur Kaaram (2024)
MB performance peaks and Trivikram trying to reinvent himself. Good watch.
Narrative-wise, it's an intriguing political thriller with a twist of family emotions. The first half could have been more captivating with additional political drama instead of a lovetrack. The second half, however, was exceptional!
Mahesh Babu's performance is an absolute comeback. His mastery in slang, modulation, and body language is a much-needed change.
Trivikram made a commendable effort to step out of his comfort zone. No Mahabharatham or Ramayan examples, and no overly melodramatic episodes.
Finally, there is so much unnecessary negativity, I think trivikram and MB combo is always a flop in theatres later gets raved in small screen.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Oppenheimer" takes you on a guilt trip through the mind of a scientist.
I just had to share my thoughts on "Oppenheimer." In my opinion, it is hands down the best film of 2023 so far, truly ending the first half of the year with a bang. For the past three months, I've been yearning for some quality content, but most movies have been either too commercial or just plain lackluster.
The wait for "Oppenheimer" was completely worthwhile, and I won't spoil the plot for you in this review. It's a biopic about the father of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer, but what sets it apart is Christopher Nolan's exceptional treatment of the subject matter. This is far from a popcorn flick; it delves deep into character study, making you feel like you're inside Oppenheimer's head, experiencing what he goes through. It's a guilt trip for a scientist who created something that changed the world forever and how we are at fingertip/button away from explosion.
I must say, Nolan outdid himself in many scenes, making this, in my opinion, his best work as a director to date. The second half, especially after the trinity test, had some of my favorite moments, with the court drama unfolding brilliantly, and the ending haunting and thought-provoking.
The screenplay was brilliantly executed, presented from a first-person perspective that allowed me to deeply invest in Oppenheimer's character and yearn to learn more about him. Nolan's choice in this aspect was reminiscent of his earlier film "Memento."
The cast was outstanding, with Robert Downey Jr. Delivering a surprising and impressive performance, especially after his role in "Zodiac." Cillian Murphy was a force to be reckoned with, as always, and even Gary Oldman as Truman and the special mentions to Jeana did an excellent job.
The music, composed by Ludwig, was simply mind-blowing. I was already awestruck by his work in "Tenet," and now he brings an amazing score to "Oppenheimer" that haunts and adds an eerie atmosphere to the film.
This movie is screenplay-heavy and demands attention to detail. Experiencing it in IMAX is highly recommended, particularly for the trinity test scene, which is mind-blowing. But it's not a film for those seeking heavy CGI and dramatic theater experiences. So, if that's what you're expecting, it's best to avoid it.
In conclusion, "Oppenheimer" will leave you deep in thought and silence for quite a while after watching it. It's an emotional rollercoaster that leaves a lasting impact.
Ghost Stories (2020)
Crap Stories
All the three film makers( Zoya, Anurag & Karan) successfully made crap stories. Dibakar's short was somewhat better with zombies touch but as usual they added propaganda to it.
In my view RGV was way better in making horror movies when compared.
I love all four directors works but I think horror is not their cup of tea(genre).
Tamasha (2015)
Once again a masterpiece from Imtiaiz Ali and brilliant performance from Ranbir Kapoor.
First of all I have registered now in IMDb to just write review of Tamasha.
The first scene opened in a drama theater where a conversation between a robot and joker. and the actual movie starts narrating the story of Ved(Ranbir).
First half its all about the original character of Ved which he wants to live.
Second half is about how he is hiding the original character and pretending to be a normal person mediocre because of various reason and then how he as overcome and started living his life.
Performance : Ranbir kapoor steals the show. Music : Sole of movie(A R rahman) Direction & Screenplay : Salute to Imtiaz Ali the way he portrayed the movie.
and finally Piyush Misha at his best again.
The moral of the movie is -Not to hide yourself, and do whatever your heart wants to do
