Sling Blade (1996)

Literally, movie perfect ion imo
5 February 2024
I cannot find a flaw in this film, it's one of those that I crave to watch once every couple of years, & no matter that I've seen it 20 + times..I never will get tired of it. It's southern gothic glory imo. John Ritter, Dwight YOAKAM..plus, all the local Arkansas cast who literally never acted before, or definately not beyond 'The Palace Theatre' in Hot springs, or if their big time, Little Rock, Branson, or Memphis. No, this is a divine home spun tale that keeps one on the edge of his or her seat. It's a film that causes the viewer to develop love and hate towards characters..it's that good & then some. I LOVE the way this movie is filmed; it's shot like one was holding a hand held cheap video recorder..in the same vein as another divine Movie classic imo, Napoleon Dynamite.

Suspense at its finest
5 February 2024
I never have been a big fan of slash and gore in my horror films; but suspense..I live for Horror that thrives off suspense like we do oxygen. Suspense that touches the arc of our fears, & Faith is my fave kind. This one most definitely dives headlong into the spiritual realm.

Nastassja Kinsky (lead actress) provides overwhelming sultry side that fit so well alongside suspense back in the 1970s.. She was only 15 during the filming of this film. So while there is plenty of nudity herein (as was so a part of the horror film diet in the 1970s-80s); it's done artfully, in a non sexual way..legally filmed as such, due to her age.

Side note: Nudity was such a part of horror in those two decades..unlike today..if it was non sexual, it cld have been rated PG vey easily with severe language or violence; thankfully, we have an R here..bc frankly, I can't think of more than one PG Rated suspension horror film that was worth its salt, save poltergeist.

Dating Naked (2014– )
The one thing western society isn't learning from naked shows
16 April 2023
If we all could set aside our body shaming learned behavior (from young ages), and think objectively about human biology/anatomy would such an objective mind so remove the scales from our eyes that we could see the absurdity of a 'naked themed show' having to blur out its thematic element? While I agree with keeping tv adult topics & sexual behaviors away from youngsters, who convinced us that plain ole bare biology (minus sexuality) should be automatically sexual? DOES THIS SHOW GET INTO ADULT THEMES? YES. However, with the objective mind, I could see that even if this was just tarsan in the jungle nudity, or naturists on a beach, the bare bodies would still be blurred, as if seeing such, or human participation (even in a safe/loving environment) could corrupt, or endanger in and of/OR BY their own biological skin.

Puritan roots run deep among all English/nations (who came out of Puritan England). Violence was always a family event (such as burning accused witches), but a bare breast was an unspeakable evil. I PRAY many (through shows like this) may begin to see the same. We truly need a change of mindset, imo.

If the nudity wasn't blurred, I could give this show a 10. Any show that expands the narrow scope of tolerability concerning something so natural as bare biology deserves my support. Final insight (eye opener) I derived (through watching and 'after show' contemplation) was how hypocritical we are by body shaming;. I realized the face is the first/foremost sexual attractor, yet no laws force kiddos to wear Halloween masks on all their socials.

Euphoria (2019– )

A Parent in Defense of Euphoria (now one of my faves)
13 March 2022
I'm a parent of 50 years old, & learned of this series from my college age daughter. I was curious about the show because I had heard such a fuss from parents regarding it. Considering how parents nowadays generally forget how they were as teens & raise their own with restrictions a prisoner would expect, I came into this show with an objective mind. I can't say enough about how much I have enjoyed this show! The nudity is rated severe on IDMB "Parents Guide" & I can't help but wonder if this is only rated so due to bias from emotional parents, as it's a 'teen drama'. If Euphoria were about 'college age kids', or even 'middle aged adults', I have no doubt it would be a "moderate" nudity rating at the most. Truly, what is the big deal about locker room nudity anyway? As a youngster in junior high & H. S. I saw that daily. Also, there is no glorification of drugs in this movie, it's quite the opposite. Imo, any parent who is honest with themselves would admit there was plenty of sex in high school, so why has there been so much parental complaints of this film as though their kids of high school age (who may end up watching this) are thinking with a pre teen innocent mind that still believes Santa Claus rides a magical sled & storks deliver little brothers & sisters to the front door? Euphoria reminds of me a very popular genre of films in the 1980s; teen flicks. Does anyone remember any of the teen movies in the 1980s? Porkies, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Sixteen Candles, etc etc. Thank God parents didn't infantalize teens back in my adolescence as they do now. As a teen, I never heard one parental complaint of toward any of these amazing teen films; even a PG teen flick like Sixteen Candles was just as sexually risqué as Euphoria!

I give Euphoria 5 out of 5 stars! It's in my top 3 drama tv series of all time.

My daughter recently told me the next season may not be out till 2024, I was so crushed.

The Demon Files (2015– )

The Demon Files
11 November 2015
This is the paranormal show I've been waiting for for so long. While other shows in this genre have episodes dealing with demonic entities, this one deals with em every episode. For me, that means no sitting through boring episodes with benign ghosts.

I LOVE how this show doesn't shy away from Jesus Christ as the true light that devourers darkness. They explicitly share with the audience that this is a battle between DARKNESS & LIGHT.

I also love how Ralph comes into these demonic realities with no fear, or worry. He taunts these entities with a heartfelt faith that the viewer can feel through the TV screen.

As a Paranormal Nerd, who has searched TV & radio for years to get my feel, this show gets a 10 out of 10 rating from me
