A great and thoughtful movie on a difficult topic
4 April 2020
If you're not ready to pay attention and think about a complex and difficult issue like heroin addiction, you're probably not ready for a movie that thoughtfully tackles it. But really, EVERYONE should be watching this, because it's a topic that affects everyone, whether you realize it or not. Drug addiction is everywhere, and the easy answer is to villainize pushers or users. "Shoot your local drug dealer" is a bumper sticker I actually see in my area. Is that the answer? "Shooting Heroin" asks this question almost immediately, and then takes you down the rabbit hole of that and other superficial responses people or law enforcement might take. Is that the answer? Clearly, it is not. This is a movie of flawed but motivated citizens reaching out to find any answer to save their friends and family. If only all of us cared enough to even consider these issues by watching a movie like this. You'll find this movie suggests we view our enemies as a brother or sister - if we cared about people, gave them hope, imagine what a change in the world we could make. Highly recommend.

Deep Story
2 November 2015
I saw this movie when it came out a few years ago, and I'm still referring to it as the pinnacle movie exploring the depths of the possibilities of evil and good in people. Very well done movie with some deep questions and discussions. Peter's character goes through a lot of development and explores a lot of the questions we come into contact with as we interact with people on a day-to-day basis. It works though what people are capable of and the thin line that separates evil and good desires deep in the human heart. For being an independent film produced, written, directed, and released without a studio budget, this is the kind of filmmaking that should be praised for effort and creativity. It takes a solid story (I think it won awards for its story) and takes it more places than expected. I own this movie and frequently share it.
