Nobody Speak: Trials of the Free Press (2017)
Don't waste your time!
Don't waste your time unless you want to watch a two hour puff piece by the media for the media. The media is so out of touch with how they're perceived.
Waco (2018)
Very Accurate Portrayal
I wrote a research paper on the Branch Davidians during my undergrad. This series is extremely accurate.
Living Undocumented (2019)
The US Federal government spends almost as much on free services for illegal immigrants ($54 Billion Annually) as it does on education for its actual citizen ($62 Billion)
Let that sink in... the US Federal government spends almost as much on free services for illegal immigrants ($54 Billion annually) as it does on education for its actual citizen ($62 Billion).
Maybe the US could make universities free or cheaper for its citizens, like they do in Europe, if they would actually enforce their borders.
The Untold History of the United States (2012)
Incredibly Intellectually Dishonest
As someone that has a graduate degree in history, this docu-series is incredibly dishonest. After Stone attempted to argue that the Cold War was caused by a lack of diplomacy by the Western powers, I had to turn the series off. Stone attempts to paint the US and UK as the aggressors that ignited the Cold War but he conveniently washes over the USSR's immediate annexation/occupation of Eastern Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungry, Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania, Belarus, and Ukraine following the end of WWII. While the US/UK were allowing Western Europe to govern itself, the USSR had imprisoned all of Easter Europe. There's no better example of this than in Berlin, a city I've lived in, where attempting to escape the Soviet Bloc by going over the wall would get you gunned down by Soviet police or blown up by Soviet mines. While the series does provide an interesting take on some key events that I admittedly don't have a deep understanding of, Stone interprets American history from a very slanted perspective.
