The Walking Dead: Scars (2019)
Season 9, Episode 14
3/10
fail
18 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
To my knowing not any of the previous episodes had a closed story as in new beginning and happy end. This story is written hollywood style: Hero travels to overcome evil problem with useless flashbacks. Wow...not! Also c'mon a glowing iron like that ...3 seconds and pushing into the lower body, nobody survives that..just like the Beta guy in the episode before falling a 60ft drop and then the chease 90's "he's alive-ending". Are you by now making this show for horror-newcomers? The violence against children wasn't something I enjoyed, even though it fits the genre. But hey, at least show it then and don't cut to a metaphoric different fight - violence full frontal - that's the magic of horror, not moral soulsearching and chilrden's education. Oh yeah, before I forget: Alpha and her gang are so lame! 2-3 Episodes at most, then please just kill Alpha off!

a mediocre copy without soul
19 April 2016
I like this genre but I can't really say good things about this show. It contains mediocre dialogues performed by medium talented actors. It's got the typical American patriotic flair for a no-brain-audience and it's trying too hard not to be racist while actually being a bit racist by presenting all kinds of stereotypes. One of the worst flaws is that pretty much all characters lack the ability to behave according to the easiest guidelines. This is only outmatched by the desperate attempt to make it look cool by including smartphone displays into the picture. There is no build up of tension whatsoever. You can immediately tell who will die. The writers and directors are clearly not personally interested in this genre. It seems more like Gilmore Girls gone wrong. And they could learn how to include social media on TV from The Mindy Project. Please cancel the show and try soaps instead.

Fear the Walking Dead: Monster (2016)
Season 2, Episode 1

weak season beginning
10 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This episode clearly showed that most of the characters are not fit for survival and therefore not very likable. If it wasn't for Daniel, Nick and Strand the show would have turned awful. It seems like the others don't have enough worries on their plate, they're constantly worried about strangers. There are similarities to the final episodes of "The walking dead" as in why they don't plan ahead and they're constantly wasting resources. For example the battery of the radio or going full throttle on one tank. Even after it becomes clear the girl was snitching on the radio they still don't take it from her. If you ask me all female characters and the suicidal wimp of a son should find a tragic end and be replaced by people with a bit more of a survival instinct. And since it is kind of a rip off from "Zombie Survival Guide" I expected cruise ships full of zombies and zombies trying to climb the anchor chain. The last 5 minutes were good.

The Walking Dead: Last Day on Earth (2016)
Season 6, Episode 16

Negan was not cursing. Hello? It is R-rated anyway!
3 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed the build up of tension, almost like in a classic zombie movie. But flaws from before got even worse in this episode. All important characters leave Alexandria defenceless. Karl brings it up, nobody cares. Pregnant women sometimes die if there is no hospital around. What did they expect at the hilltop? An emergency room with highly qualified surgeons? Worth risking their whole existence as a village? I would argue against that. Carol's explanation did not make sense at all to why she left in the first place.

But I'm writing all this only to complain about Negan. I think Steven Seagal looks more like him and he did not use one single swear word. This is an adult show for late night airing, so why on earth can't people swear like they even do on kids shows like Southpark or any Seth McFarlan-Show? I'm not too bothered about the cliffhanger as long as it is the right person. I just found Negan not masculine bastard enough for his role.

And by the way guys: kill some more characters. It's just too far off the desperation and drama of the comic.

They should have known better
30 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
As some of the reviewers before me I also think Carol leaving Alexandria doesn't really make sense and could have been explained better.

And of course you don't send out half your military force when you expect an attack. Especially since we all know that Carol copes well on her own.

In my opinion it would have been better if they had made an "A-Team-Montage" showing how they prepare for the attack.

All they have is a steel fence and some corrugated metal plates, no booby-traps, etc..

And of course why did Glenn and Michone hang out chatting in the woods in enemy territory? I also have to agree that the cliffhanger was really lame.

Gravity Falls (2012–2016)

Dear Alex, please make adult cartoons next
27 March 2016
This series made my life better. Every time I was watching an episode it took me back to childhood memories while experiencing fantastic adventures.

It is so extremely intelligent and there are so many details (world record?). Most jokes are hilarious and I even think to recognise political messages towards tolerance and against neoliberalism.

It's beautiful to watch the colourful world of Gravity Falls. All characters are related to real life everyday people. There's a perfect storyline and even a great theme song! Alex I hope you're reading this:

Pretty, pretty please make adult cartoons next! (And name a character after me, ha ha ha!) I wish you all the best and a bright future in entertainment!

Cheers, Nicky

awesome! that's the stuff!
14 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I think this and the last episode were the best ones for a long time. I don't see how anyone can complain about this. It differs from the comic but finally in a good way. Horror can be so lame if the lead characters don't follow through being tough. Unlike here, they do it even cooler than I imagined. There haven't been many fatalities on the good guys side for a long time but who cares? In the end who wants all the good guys dead? This isn't Game of Thrones. There are some awesome scenes and surprises. How is this a filler episode? Would you rather have seen how people are waiting at the base or some flashback stuff as in previous episodes?

Enjoy the ride!

Go Rick!

totally underrated, very entertaining
25 February 2016
Compared to other so called horror movies with footage of a moving chair or similar boring scares this movie delivers. OK, it's not as classy as the original but they make up for it: More action, nice special effects, great gore, some good shocks and even kind of a feminist message.

Cons: Minor logic/story holes. But so what? If horror didn't have plot holes nobody would ever be killed.

Other than that some here complain about the lighting but also here I gotta say: I prefer a clear picture over found footage or eye-straining darkness.

Great movie!

Great movie - No complaints
29 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
First of all it's not really a thriller, it's more of a gangster movie. However the brief plot summary here on IMDb gives away too much. In one sentence all the twists are spoilt. Thank god I watched the movie before checking on IMDb. I also didn't know Chris Penn had died during the movie, so I wasn't looking for story-holes and therefore I was watching it without any prejudice. I expected something Tarantino-like and it delivered. The movie has great characters played by good actors, great camera work, funny scenes, good soundtrack, tough guys, sexy women and accelerating violence. I was shocked over the 5-star rating. With reservoir dogs I sometimes got bored, but this movie kept me excited for the whole length. Chris Penn is amazing as the psycho-ex-con.

Love the show - Hate the mum-character
21 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Love the show but a few things need to be said: I read a lot about people complaining about the acting of the drug addict son. I think he is very convincing and his character is acting way more logical than the teenage daughter (ok teenage girls act irrational but i just hope she dies next).

Now my main criticism:

A real mum usually puts the life of her children before anything else. She never does. She doesn't even freak out when the military takes her son. She has already killed zombies and she knows what's out there. However for the third time in the series she knowingly risks her life just for the sake of curiosity. What would be worth this risk? Not even a million Dollars (to a real mother). If a country would be struck by Ebola and you'd be in a safe zone, would you cut the fence and run out to the infected?

Last criticism:

Why on earth use the cast of "Orange is the new black"? You would't see John Snow from GOT in TWD Still love Kirkmans stuff, even if it's a quick buck on the side.
