C'era una volta il crimine (2022)
Not too bad, even if lots of cliches are present
It's the 3rd instalment of "Non ci resta che il crimine" saga - some kind of Back to the future (and Loopers, and else) with a taste of Rome!
Featuring Nazis and some historical characters from the WW2, it plays it easy with the plot and various situations: at times it gets dumb (even if it tries, and manages, to stay "acceptable" making use of italian dialects, jokes and alike) but overall it's not too bad. A (large) bit of suspension of disbelief is needed, much more than in the first chapter... because now it looks like they have some kind of Temporal Agency working in the background.
Finale is of course left open for a possible 4th chapter.
Omicidio all'italiana (2017)
Usual stuff from Maccio: nice, out of ordinary, at times exxagerated
Been a fan of the trio (Maccio Capatonda, Herbert Ballerina, Ivo Avido) for years, mostly for their TV and Radio sketches etc, and their good mix and relationship, together with a ton of funny crazy ideas has always been quite entertaining!
But, again, it's hard to tell "how good" they go in a full movie: same feelings as when watching Italiano medio... enjoyable ideas and especially the real hard satire against TV, "bad" TV shows and bad people habits, but at some point it all becomes "too much" and not so good for a movie.
Definitely appreciated, in Omicidio all'italiana, is the absolute mocking of "horror TV" i.e. Those pseudo-reality show which seem to enjoy homicides and other sad stories!
Ritorno al crimine (2021)
Back to the future's most stupid remake - but funny, entertaining, and perfectly well-done in italian style!
Yes indeed: everything is in there, and fits in proper place indeed!
La scoperta dell'alba (2012)
Deeply inspired by Frequency but nice and enjoyable, with that italian taste
It's kind of obvious that the Plot was borrowed by Frequency - that device about talking to a relative of yours in the past or, in this case, to your self as a younger girl.
But the movie does work, and the approach which is more "political" and with a broader angle than its other story... come out well.
Margherita Buy nice and good as usual, and the other also stand up to the role, including Subsonica's soundtrack.
Project Almanac (2015)
Time travel for youngsters - well, as good as it gets!
As I finished watching it, I felt disappointed: plot holes, not so strong plot, crazy shooting (ok, it's meant to be "young" footage-style, but... exxagerated!) ...
One day later, it feels a bit better. I am still a bit disappointed by the shooting but... ok. On the other hand, the plot now seems to make some sense, and even a complain I read somewhere about "they get a time machine and can't think of a better use"... becomes less critical. I mean, they're 17 or so: me too, if I had found such a machine back in the days, would've probably done the same choices!
So, a somewhat nice idea and somewhat new. Acceptable.
