Migration (I) (2023)
4/10
Aimless and boring
19 June 2024
I had high hopes for this movie, but about five minutes in I realized there really wasn't much to the plot other than this: A duck family who doesn't normally migrate decides to go south to Jamaica, despite the father's fears. They encounter obstacles that seem forced and contrived. There is little to no humor--in fact Im pretty sure I never once laughed. I was embarrassed that I chose the movie tonight and made my husband sit through this. Eventually he fell asleep. Sadly, it was nothing like Minions or Dispicable Me. I guess not all Illumination movies are winners. This one was a huge miss for me.

Priscilla (2023)
4/10
Boring
17 April 2024
I watched the mini series "Elvis and Me" in the late 80's, which is based on the same book that this movie is apparently based on. "Elvis and Me" is far better. It had me crying by the end. I was so connected to the characters because of the actors' performances; not so with this bland movie. The main actor mumbles and I couldn't understand most of what he said. The actress portraying Priscilla had no personality. They could've gone into more detail regarding their marriage rather than the boring years leading up to it when Elvis and Priscilla were rarely together. This is one film you could skip and you wouldn't be missing out.

Harmony from the Heart (2022 TV Movie)
3/10
Dumb from the get-go
23 March 2022
This movie started off bad and just got worse. The opening credits scene was unprofessional and stupid looking. Gaudy, ugly chocolates and hearts everywhere? Why does every Hallmark-esque movie open with either an overhead shot of some downtown skyline or some really ugly decorations depicting a certain holiday? There has to be a better way to start a movie.

I realized with the word "harmony" in the title that this movie was about music, so I shouldn't have been surprised when the grandma started singing in the first 2 minutes, but it really seemed out of place and stupid.

And then reality went out the window. Jessica Lowndes plays a grad student who hasn't done any of her assignments/papers correctly. She has done them her own way. And yet she acts surprised when her professor tells her she probably won't pass? What does she expect?

She walks down the hallway humming to herself and pretending to play an instrument or conduct music as she goes. Music people do not act like idiots just because they work in a musical profession.

Then she gets to the hospital and she meets this doctor who acts like he has never heard of music therapy before. Has he been living under a rock? I'm sure he has worked with other music therapists. It is not a new science.

She discovers that her patient has been moved to home care so she walks up to the desk and asks for his home address and the receptionist just gives it to her. No questions asked. No credentials checked. That would never happen in a hospital.

This movie just got dumber and dumber. I had to stop because I realized if I continued I would be wasting the next hour and a half of my life.
