I Love this film. It is done Talking Heads style and every bit as good - i am sure Alan Bennet would love it.
Alison Steadman is superb as the mother and narrator. So many family issues encountered in the run up to a wedding are all handled in what seems to be her own inimitable fashion. I wonder if the writer had Alison in mind when he envisaged Isobel.
The Lesbian issues are thoughtfully and sensitively portrayed. It is beautiful, sad, funny, and I didn't see what was coming. It's a great upbeat ending - just when it seems all is lost, there's the dance scene - this is gorgeous - as is Deborah Cornelius in this scene. This is all topped off with a quirky twist at the end - perfect !
