The Godfather Part II (1974)
The greatest movie EVER MADE.
When the Godfather first came out it was considered an instant classic, Best picture, Best actor, and all the critical acclaim that went along with what was at the time, perceived as an "expose'" on the Italian American crime story. Although Marlon Brando's performance is considered one of the greatest pieces of acting art to ever grace the silver screen, This movie, The Godfather part II surpassed one of one of the greatest movies ever made. Michael Corleone's character almost immediately eclipses Marlon Brando's Vito Corleone.
Michael's portrayal of a cunning, intelligent, murdering, money making machine is second to NONE. He took an already neatly perfect story and magnified it. Al Pacino is perfect as a young Michael. Michael's game of death is perfect chess. But at what cost ? Does a man so obsessed with his father's legacy really need to murder his father's son? Is Michael willing to forego his "American family" for his idea of success ? Michael's beautiful malevolence is a thing of perfection ! We come away from this film (I refuse to call it a sequel) knowing that Michael is the perfect criminal ? From the day he hatched the plan to commit his first real act of crime (Shooting a police captain and a mid level drug dealer in the head) to his act of righting the wrong he considered the ultimate betrayal by having his brother murdered, Michael comes off as a psychopath and in the end, I believe he knows it. Sheer movie perfection. These two films are a part of the American story. The best EVER.
The Handmaid's Tale: The Wilderness (2021)
Elisabeth Moss is becoming one the greatest actors in a generation
Her ability to convince the audience of her emotions is uncanny. It's as if she was born into this profession. Her acting, and now directing is second nature and second to none. This episode is proof the The handmaid's tale success is due to her talents. The final scenes of the season 4 finale are raw and unexpected. Elisabeth Moss' June Osborne will be remembered as one of the great acting achievements of television history. Think Walter White. She is amazing !
Season 5 will be greatly anticipated. So much credit for the success is also owed to Ann Dowd !
The Handmaid's Tale: The Crossing (2021)
Congratulations Elizabeth Moss. 10 out of 10 !
Elizabeth Moss seemingly came out of nowhere, after her artistic performance with the cast of mad men she picked up where she left off with the Handmaid's tale. She is continuing to amaze everyone with her gifts in front of, and now behind the camera. She is becoming a tour de' force in the world of acting.
The Crossing is the finest episode yet of the series and is setting up Max Minghellas character to be a huge link in the story. Ann Dowd is AMAZING !
