A limited series squished into a movie format
21 April 2024
The concept and execution is excellent and creative. The acting and casing is near perfect, The direction and editing hit he ball on every note

If you want explanation to why this movie isn't a 7/10, its because it is actually a 9/10 limited series. The entire film feels like 6 different hour long episodes were condensed to one and a half hours total.

There is so much backstory and further expansion for each character in this film, but it feels like it was all cut and removed to get it down to a 90 minute format.

So many dramatic notes, but nothing has a long enough time to just "sit there" and leave a lasting impact. Its all next-next-next. I mean, yes, we "get it" but we aren't invested like we would be with a longer story with the same quality.

Season 2, Total Failure
27 June 2023
Season one ended with an exciting conclusion. It was an ending that left viewers expecting the unsolved mysteries from season one to be explained and expanded on, and that we would see the story moving beyond the small town and into a bigger world of bizarre horror and mystery.

Instead, in season 2 episode 1, we were given the characters placed back at square one. Wandering around saying "what is going on?" and having listless inconclusive "dramatic" conversations with each other. This continues for the entirety of season 2.

The writing is atrocious. Even beyond the boring and tire-spinning dialogue which makes up 90% of the run-time. Nothing happens. There is no plot progression on what was established in season one, there are only more ideas added, very BAD ideas.

Do not waste your time with this terribly written show.

Mutant World (2014)
1/10
Avoid like HIV
20 October 2015
I switched on it for i think five minutes to see something like this: Bunker doors open Group of young actors step out wearing pristine military gear, one actor says some dumb exposition like "been down there ten years, would rather die than spend another day down there" all proceed to speak perfect cliché military lingo to some old guy father figure "ten-four we got a fox-trot code 9"(something the old guy taught them?), something really stupid about implausible & impracticable solar panels happens, A military vehicle appears out of nowhere and apparently "purrs like a kitten" somehow after 10 years of presumably being totally inactive.

They drive up to a house, guy checks radiation levels or something dumb, something with two arms and walking on two legs opens a door and makes a noise, everyone starts uncontrolled firing at it for absolutely no reason(something the old guy taught them?). Another obvious human pops around a corner and they also shoot it for no reason.

"what is this?" looks down at obvious human body "SOME KINDA WERID ANIMAL OR SOMETHING" touches it, shows man with green face paint, "raaar" opens eyes with terrible CGI effect.

that's when I changed the channel. My brain couldn't take anymore. I feel bad for anyone who continued to watch it.

How do movies like this get made? How do you get a budget to make a first draft script made into a movie? I've literally read better scripts online that will never be made into a film.

I can see this being on an 8 movie pack in a wall-mart 5$ garbage bin, but how the hell did it make it to an actual movie channel on satellite television? Mind boggling. It literally made me mad.

The Brittany Murphy Story (2014 TV Movie)
2/10
Did they even try?
25 August 2015
Saw this film tonight on TV and decided to watch it because I am big Brittany Murphy fan. I watched the entire movie and was blown away.

The actress looks and acts nothing like Brittany Murphy in anyway. I doubt if you could hire someone who could do justice to Brittany's magnetism on a small budget, but you could at least hire an actor with a similar face/body shape. My god, I shouldn't have to keep reminding myself that this is supposed to be Brittany Murphy on screen.

The actor playing her husband was creepy as all hell, when he came on screen i though "okay, this is clearly the manipulative creep in the story" and it seemed like it was going that way. Nothing really came out of that though, so why hire an actor that the audience dislikes the entire time he is on screen? The intimate scenes were disturbing!

This movie was made in 2014, and yet they leave her extremely suspicious death to 4-6 minutes of screen time? followed by a direct quote from Wikipedia as a epilogue?

Rest in peace Brittany, I'm sorry they did this to your life story.
