I had no idea what this was about and couldn't find any reviews before watching. I am glad, because I simply had no idea what would happen next. It is a slow building of suspense, black humor, and psychologically twisted, about a guy who lives alone with his cats and his life starts spinning out of control. I won't add any spoilers. I can't think of what category this fits in or any other movie like it. It was a teeny bit slow in a couple places but that might have added to the creepy factor when I think of the scenes that were a slow-ish, as you're really forced to see how weird the main character is. About the characters - there were only a few, and their behavior was like a caricature of the type of person they play in the film. The very ending was totally unexpected.

I love horror and want it to scare me. This movie did a good job of building suspense, making you wait for it, and though you knew it was coming the make-you-jump moments were very good. The acting was good, I loved the setting, and the lighting and camera work were excellent. This is a ghost story of course (per the title), which is refreshing. While I love horror I am deathly sick of the gross-out blood & guts films or the ones based on the devil taking possession of someone.
I read reviews after watching it and was surprised it was only a 4.3 on IMDb. I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to have a good scare and not take things too seriously.
